Memoir chronicling depression, binge eating, success at school and work, and difficulties with family. Betsy Lerner is smart, funny, and observant. Now that I've read her book, I would love to have a cup of coffee with her.

I read this in two days....a quick and interesting, if not always pleasant read. Betsy shares very personal stuff. I hope she is doing as well now as she seemed to be at the end of the book.

This was a pretty good read once I got into it and she got into the loony bin. Interesting on how she dealt with her food issue and the way it was thought of back then.

"FOOD AND LOATHING is a favorite meal to be savored--although it's hard not to gobble it up at one sitting. Betsy Lerner writes about her struggles with extra pounds and depression with humor and sensitivity. As a writer, she's at her fighting weight on every page. " ALICE ELLIOTT DARK, author
