Food and the City by Ina Yalof is like Brandon Stanton's Humans of New York minus the photographs and with a focus on people who are part of NYC's food culture. For those familiar with New York City, see if your favorite places are represented or find some new ones to try. For those unable to get there, here is a look at some wonderful people who call New York home and a unique way for the armchair traveler to wind their way through the city.

A magical tour and review through New York City's food scene. Wait, it is more than that, it is a story about people's dreams, making things come true, working hard and what actually goes on behind the scene of some of New York City's famous eateries. What I enjoyed most about this read was the variety and spectrum of food vendors that the author showed us. It wasn't just a book full of the stories of the rich and famous chefs of the City. It showed us the everyday baker, food cart worker, waiter-the people who work back breaking hours to make the delicious food we yearn for. This book made me want to hop a train to New York City with the book in hand and line up outside every one of these eateries for amazing food! So hungry!
