Excellant book about relationships with mothers, unconditional love and friendship. A husband leaves his wife after learning she's carring and keeping a child with Rhetts syndrome. She raises the child alone with help from her mother and brother-in-law doctor. Easy read - couldn't put it down.

Perhaps this is because it was abridged, but this wasn't among my favorite Luanne Rice books
Nice story about a mother of a Rett's Syndrome daughter, her relationships, and her search for love.
great book- i read one of hers and went out to find the other 6 i have immediately.
I really enjoyed this book. I would recommend this book to everyone. If you have not read Luanne Rice yet don't start with this book. It was not her best but it is still worth reading.
Good story, loved the characters and the intimate look into their complicated emotions. Excellent read.
Good story about a single mother with a disabled daughter.
Sometimes we find the family we are always meant to have.
The story of an extrodinary woman who raises an exceptional child on her own after her husband left her before the child was born. Blinded by despair it takes some time to understand that there are men in this world who care and are willing to wait. Luanne Rice is an excellent stort teller.
A wonderful read, heartwrenching, but wonderful all the same.

This is one of her best books/movies, I believe..there is also a movie with the same name. Two brothers in love with the same woman, one marries her and leaves her when he finds out the baby she is carrying will have abnormalties and he cannot deal with that..She does not know of the other brother's love for awhile..She has the child and supports her by herself and with her Mom's help, and a caring doctor nearby. She befriends a young girl who becomes her daughter's helper and it is wonderful! You just have to read it! Is one of my Absolute Favorite books!

What a wonderful book. It had good times and bad and was just a great feel good story.

Life has not proved easy for single mom Dianne Robbins, of Gull Point, Conn. Abandoned by her husband, lobsterman Tim McIntosh, just before their daughter Julia was born with spina bifida and Rett syndrome--a debilitating physical condition and an autism-like disorder, respectively--Dianne supports herself and Julia by building children's playhouses. At the age of 11, Julia weighs 29 pounds, and there is no guarantee she will live much longer; yet she has a magical radiance. Despite the difficulties of caring for a severely disabled child, Dianne is never bitter, and her relationship with Julia is hope filled and loving. Dianne had also believed that her strong love would repair Tim's damaged self-esteem and save their marriage. Now she is wary of getting involved with a man again. But Tim's brother, Alan, who also happens to be Julia's pediatrician, has been secretly in love with Dianne for years, and his steadfast devotion may be just what she needs. My Mom read the book and thorughly enjoyed it. Said it was a feel good story.
Not a bad book by any means, but this one didn't do much for me. I was hooked very quickly, and felt an immediate connection with the characters, but then it became a little mundane and predictable. The cliffhanger in the first chapter was probably the only reason I managed to make it to the end.

A very, very good read about family relationships and love
I really enjoyed reading this book. The only problem that i had with it was that it stopped all the sudden and i wanted to know what happen.
Anything by Luanne Rice is a good story and a tearjerker. This one is very good and has a good ending. Not all of her books have a happy ending but this one does.
