Not typical Francis but readable all the same.
Lord Henry Grey doesn't want the special favors his title tends to give him, so he takes a job at a horse transport company and accompanies shipments of horses by air. But he soon discovers that things are not quite what they seem. This is another excellent Dick Francis thriller, even if the overall theme and the technology are outdated. Another great adventure from the master of the mystery/thriller!
As ever Dick Francis has written another terrific mystery. The theme this time is air transporting of horses. It is is amazing how much one learns while enjoying a good mystery.
Another wonderful Dick Francis story, involving skullduggery in the air transport of racing horses. What a story teller!
This is a novel about another of Francis' lonely heros, caught between social classes and fairly mysterious to most of those who know him. This one ends up having a fairly riveting story, with genuinely unpleasant villains. as with most of Francis' heros, he is deceptively stubborn and survives hideous experiences to bring things to a safe conclusion. This one, however, leaves some loos ends hanging. We are lefft wondering what will happen to his Italian girlfriend (characteristically, for this hero, they are instantly in love but can't speak the same language, so there is a distance between them, as there is with the rest of the hero's family and acquaintances) and what choices he will make about the rest of his life.
One of the great Dick Francis's racing tales. In pretty darn good shape.
1975 copy.Beautiful copy! When Henry Grey was piloting his first cargo for Yardman Transport, he thought he was only carrying racehorses and broodmates out of England, how wrong he was. Soon, he became awear that something else was aboard, something he wasn't meant to discover. something that turned a routine flight into a chilling encounter with death. A mystery that will keep the reader's attention to the last page. Former jockey turned author Dick Francis wrote the best racing mystery ever and this is one of his best.
I'm a huge Dick Francis fan, and this is one of the best I've read so far.
