Wow, I thought this book was really good. Being as though I am also 40, I could totally understand this characters feelings about being older. As for the character Kai, well in some ways I didn't like him because he seemed to be a little arrogant and didn't put as much feeling into the fling or relationship as Jacqueline did. I highly recommend this book. I read it in just a few days, it was that good!!

I thought this book was great right up until the end. I tried to figure out how the two characters would handle the long distance thing and after finishing the book I still feel the author didn't know how to handle it with them either so just ended the story. unsatisfying conclusion to a great story.

Divorced or not, I think every Mom can relate to the emotions addressed in this book. A great read that hits close to home!

Very enjoyable story of a newly single mom who finds herself on holiday in Hawaii alone for her fortieth birthday. Surfing lessons and a flirtation with the sexy surf instructor ignites sparks she doesn't anticipate and she finds her life changes in ways she never expected.

I really liked Jackie and found her to be an easy character to relate to. There were major similarities in Jackie's life to mine that I found a little un-nerving but the story was very easy to get into.

A great story about learning to put yourself first. I recently met the author at a book signing and she is such a giving person who truly respects her readers. If you haven't read Jane Porter yet you are missing out. The Frog Prince is actually my favorite so far but my friends who have been through divorce are traumatic breakups like this one best.

Fun read but it left me with a few unanswered questions about the main character and why she did or did not make certain choices.

This is the second book of Jane Porter's that I've read & I really enjoy her style of writing. This book deals with Jackie, a recent divorcee & her journey to discovering who she really is. She goes to Hawaii & gets involved with a younger man.

I must say, I read this book in about 3-4 days. Even though I'm not divorced, I could kind of identify with the way she was feeling since I'm the same age.

A divorced Mom, turning forty, falls for the stereo-type beach boy in Hawaii, and tries to live two lives. One for her family and friends, and one for her but when her daughter is hurt, and Mom's not there, she has to give up something. A good story.

This a great summer read for women. I read the excerpts of this book in a women's magazine last summer and couldn't wait to get the whole story. Without going into details, anyone else who read the excerpts will not be disappointed with the conclusion of the book.

Jackie Laurens just got divorced and she's turning forty. A friend talks her into a trip to Hawaii, then backs out at the last minute. So, Jackie is alone in Paradise, wondering what she'll do with herself, when she meets Kai, her gorgeous, much younger surf instructor. The chemistry between them is instant, and Jackie has a much-needed vacation fling with a younger guy.

Back home in Seattle, things aren't going so well. Jackie is struggling with being a single parent, and is lonely. She decides to visit Kai for another long weekend. Even though her friends don't approve of the relationship, Kai is what is making her happy.

I rarely read chick lit and don't know what to think of this book. It definitely kept me interested. I thought Jackie sometimes whined a little too much about being too old or about not taking chances, but her character developed throughout the story into a woman who knew what she wanted with her life. Even though I loved Kai, I wish we could have seen more character development. I think the fact that the story is told in the first person point-of-view kept us from knowing what Kai thought about Jackie. Or, maybe the author wanted to keep him dark and mysterious. My rating: 4 Stars.

A quick read, the story is light, but some of the themes resonated, even though I have never been married and do not have children like the main character, Jacqueline. She is having a mid-life crisis after a divorce and questions the life she had chosen to live when she was married.

I'm Jacqueline Laurens--Jack to all my friends--and eighteen months ago if you looked at my life on paper you'd think it was fabulous: gorgeous husband Daniel, venture capitalist, eleven years married, two kids, big house. The not so good part? I discovered Daniel's affair at the worst possible time.
Now Jack's ex-husband has the second house and the Porsche, while she's got the two kids and a whopping broken heart. Her best friend's antidote: a spontaneous girl's weekend to Hawaii. But when the flu ruins their plans, Jack finds herself facing her 40th birthday in paradise--alone. Then she meets Kai, a sexy, much much-younger surf instructor, who reawakens her fun side. Surprisingly, after their sizzling weekend ends, the calls continue, making everyone back home wonder what Jack's gotten herself into. Now, pulled in all directions, a surprise forces her to reevaluate her life, but will she sacrifice her happy new relationship for what other people think is right?
