This could have been a great book as the bee info was so interesting. But the characters were so very typically stereotyped, so predictable, and the angst! I've never read such angst in my life! Yet, I finished it even though it was so easy to predict everything. Crazy me.

I was drawn into this novel from the first page. The story includes four generations of a (dysfunctional) family that has lived for generations in Apalachicola, Florida. Although each person is flawed, and most have a secret, I felt connected to them. I had to suspend belief regarding the amazing coincidence that drives the plot, but the interesting information I gained about beekeeping and fine china made up for this. If you enjoy family sagas with themes of love, home, and forgiveness, you'll enjoy this title.

First time reading this author. One of those books that you have a hard time putting down. Really enjoyed the story. Made me feel like I was part of the story.

Angst, angst...like an 80's Harlequin novel. I was bored.

I have enjoyed White's novels, but this one,not so much. It was painfully slow. it just seemed to go on and on with extraneous information. The characters were complex and deeply flawed. As improbable as the outcome was, you kind of figured it out pretty early into the story. The past and present were intertwined throughout the story and at times seemed to clutter the flow. This was my least favorite White novel.Since I like the author I wish I could be more complimentary.
