Another of Kellerman's "Alex Deleware" novels, this book is fast paced, fun to read and has a GREAT story! I couldn't put it down, as the story brought you from the very rich to the very poor of L.A., from the academic halls of a local college to the inner circles of L.A.'s "serect" worlds. Very good read, and as always an ending you won't soon forget!

This story is about a teenage girl is defiant, beautiful and borderline delinquent who's parents try to get her help through a psychologist. Does the treatment work and does the girl get better?

The book addresses the toubled life of this struggling teenager and the ups and downs the doctor faces in trying to treat her. Secrets are found out and mysteries come about when the doctor struggles to find out about the girls' troubled past.

Despite the girl's parents and her doctor, the girl is found dead and the doctor is left to uncover the mystery of the girls' murder.

Topics include the sex industry, mortal danger, big money and lust in the unforgiving city of Los Angeles.

This is a great Kellerman/Delaware book. Kellerman reaches sometimes for convoluted plot lines, but manages to bring them all together in the end. I am a fan!

I thought I'd really love this book since Alex Delaware is a psychologist and I'm a mental health therapist. I love psychological suspense stories but don't like at all the kind of mysteries where questions are asked of those who knew the victim which leads to conjecture which leads to more questions asked, which leads to....well, you get my point. I did like the main character Alex and his cop partner, Milo. However, the victim, when she was alive, came across as a money hungry, very cold woman so it was hard to empathize with her as well as Alex's obsession to finding her killer. There were lots of enjoyable twists in this book and the ending took me somewhat by surprise.

A good Alex Delaware read - better than most. A young girl is murdered, and when her mother requests Alex's help to unravel the mystery, he can't turn her away. The girl was a former patient and a straight-A student, along with being a high priced call girl on the side. So Alex and his reliable pal Milo dive into the world of L.A.'s not so shiny side, investigating her death and finding correlations to the disappearance of a UCLA co-ed. Compared to some of his works, I found this Delaware novel to be very quick paced and entertaining to read.

On back of book: Lauren Teague is a beautiful, defiant borderline delinquent teenager when her parents bring her to Dr. Alex Delaware's office. Lauren angrily resists Alex's help and the psychologist is forced to chalk Lauren up as one of the inevitable failures of his profession. Years later, when Alex and Lauren come face to face in a shocking encounter, both doctor and patient are stricken with shame. But the ultimate horror takes place when, soon after, Lauren'a brutalized corpse is found dumped in an alley. Alex disregards the advice of his trusted friend, LAPD detective Milo Sturgis, and jeopardizes his relationship with longtime lover, Robin Castagna, in order to persue Lauren's killer. As he investigates his young patient's troubled past, Alex enters the shadowy worlds of fringe psychology experimentation and the sex industry- and then into mortal danger, when lust and big money collide in an unforgiving LA

This is an ok mystery. The characters that Alex Delaware meets are interesting. However, I've read suspense that is way more exciting, and edge of your seat nail biting than this.

3 stars. Flesh and Blood was a good read, however not as captivating as most of Kellerman's books I've read. I found it very easy to put down after a few chapters, where normally I have to force myself to stop reading!
