I stumbled across this mystery, and I'm so glad I did! Read Harriet Klausner's review for a summary. I'll just add that I enjoyed the language, the characters' problems were real, and just like good Southerners, they enjoyed their Cokes. If you enjoy humorous Southern mysteries, you'll love Jimmie Ruth Evans' new series...at least I hope this is the beginning of a series!

Finally a real portrayal of a single mother!!! The main character is strong, couragous but just as loath to get involved in murder as I would be faced with the same situation. Not only are her children portrayed as having personalities similar to that of normal teens they also have character traits their mother would rather do without. The main character is not rich, in fact she works 3 jobs just to make ends meet. Her hardworking spirit is so like my own single mother that I wanted to cheer. It's about dern time a mom was portrayed as the tired lioness she really is.

This was GREAT! Oh, I so hope lots more of this series are written. You couldn't help but like the main character. And Mayrene is such a good friend. Really, really promising series.

Pretty good first mystery -- not very challenging but I plan to read the rest of the series. Heroine and her next door neighbor are funny - not laugh out loud - more amusing.

1st in the series. A fun cozy with likable characters. I'm looking forward to reading the next one.
