A review on the back of this book said that the author's "light and breezy style make ideal reading for a lazy summer night." I don't know about "ideal reading," but this author certainly does have a "light and breezy style." A little too casual for me, there wasn't enough substance in the characters or the plot for me to continue reading this book past about chapter four. Not too heavy, it might be just what you're looking for to read on a lazy summer night, or in any season for that matter. It is clean, free from racy behavior, crime sprees, or inappropriate language. At least, it was through chapter four!

Great summer read - Christian Fiction - if you've ever been in a church single's group, you'll really appreciate this book! #1 in a series

A contemporary Christian novel of friendship and romance from the male point of view.

Jay Jarvis just moved east. His dating life's gone south. What else is a guy to do but go fishing? This is an honest book from the guy's point of view.
Even though I read the 2nd book in this series first, Flabbergasted was still very enjoyable. The Dallas Morning News reviewer put it best,"Amazing. A novel with no illicit sex, bad words, racial slurs, or crime that is simultaneously serious, hilarious, and impossible to put down." I hated to finish this book and the 2nd one also because I like the characters so much.
This is a fun to read book about a guy who moves East and meets some really zany people in of all places, church. The Dallas Morning News said "Amazing. A novel with no illicit sex, bad words, racial slurs or crime this is still serious, hilarious, and impossible to put down."
A great read!
Maybe it's the book, maybe it's me.
I liked the book.
I liked the characters.
However, what I didn't like was that I kept having to go back and re-read because I thought I missed something.
To me, the author kept skipping forward and left me wondering 'huh, what just happened?'.
Maybe this is why I don't tend to read a lot of books by male authors.

Loved it! Great characters especially shows how you can
grow your faith even tho you may be confused and unsure of how life. It shows can change with an innocent encounter.
