My review:
Everything you would ever need for home repair is in here, from replacing a faucet, to installing a new light switch, to laying down flooring, and so much more. Step by step illustrations and diagrams, along with the easy to follow text, explain it all.
Just today, I followed this book's advice about where to put a smoke detector in my apartment.

From the back cover:
"Whether you are just looking for the right way to hang a plant from the ceiling or you want to build a closet, it's all here. Fix it Fast, Fix it Right will save you money by showing you how you get the job done right the first time. Just as important, you'll learn to analyze whether you want to do the work yourself or hire someone to do it. Gene and Katie have learned that some jobs that seem simple are better left to the specialized skills and tools of the professionals. They show you how to save money by doing preparation work before the pros arrive. If you own a home, you must own Fix it Fast, Fix it right."

Amazon.com Review:
Before you tackle your next home-repair project, consult Fix It Fast, Fix It Right. Home-repair experts for Maryland Public Television's Infotips, Gene and Katie Hamilton share their years of hands-on experience with tips, hints, and shortcuts. Written in layman's terms and accompanied by black-and-white illustrations, this guide covers an assortment of indoor and outdoor projects. With the authors' bare-bones list of indispensable tools, you should be able to accomplish projects ranging from venting a dryer or replacing a broken window pane to slightly more complicated tasks such as installing a suspended ceiling or ventilating an attic. Included in this basic home-repair guide are a variety of charts and inserts to determine your ventilation needs, how much paint to purchase, or how to figure electrical load. Keep this on hand for the next time your paint starts peeling, your plumbing gets plugged, or you just get a hankering to hang some wallpaper.
