Whew! What a riveting tale, book 3 of a heart pounding series. Exciting all the way through! Not a book to be read casually over weeks but one to finish in a weekend of intense reading.

Author Matthew Reilly continues the countdown he began with "Seven Deadly Wonders" featuring ex-military hero Jack West Jr and his team of adventurers. Picking up where the previous cliffhanger left off, West and his team must rebuild an ancient Machine to prevent the Dark Star (the opposite of our sun) from annihilating all life on earth. They have to ward off a coalition of military men bent on getting the pillars of the machine for themselves, and along the way there are clues as to who the five greatest warriors in all human history are, at least according to Reilly.
The book is an awesomely fun read, but there's more profanity here than in the previous books and that detracts from the story somewhat. I'm hoping that the countdown continues with "four".
