I'm so sad that this is the end of this series. A fun a quick read, Fred has me laughing out loud. She is my kind of girl, a don't hold back smart-ass!! Fred has such a wild ride and 2 guys chasing her, and she doesn't even know if she wants one :-) With her best friend Jonas marrying her ex-boss Barb. And Barb refusing her resignation, she's already stressed. Then she is having to deal with all the media as the under-sea folk reveal themselves to the world and her traitorous father coming back with an apology. Then undersea folk are starting to disappear. Fred and her friends are on a mission to find out what is happening. This book was a great closure for the series and I will definitely miss these crazy and lovable characters!

Fred is finally engaged to Prince Artur (of the Underwater Folk) but secretly pining for Dr. Thomas Pearson, marine biologist and romance writer. Her long lost biological father (the merman traitor) shows up unannounced and they get to know each other. Once again, Fred, Thomas and Artur get embroiled in a plot against the royal family and work together to unravel the mystery.
Lots of surprises in this installment. The usual zany, wacky dialogue between Fred, Jonas and Thomas. I really enjoy Fred's attitude - she retreats into sarcasm and anger when threatened by feelings. It's kind of cute. All in all, a pretty good ending for the series, though I would enjoy further adventures of this trio.

3rd and final book in the Fred the Mermaid trilogy is just what you expect from MaryJanice Davidson, snarky, smart (as in aleck) and full of pop culture references and four letter words. Very quick and easy read, mostly because they should have taken all three books, edited them up some, reduced the size of the margins and made one book. If you've read the others, you need to read this one, cause this is the end of the story. If you haven't read the others, you could skip them and just read this one.

Entertaining for the start, this book ends up crowding a lot of characters in to tidy loose ends, and then finishes with a rather hurried happy conclusion that glosses over some actions that I think would have to have at least more of an emotional consequence, even if the seafolk can clean up the physical evidence.
I get it's a comedy instead of a drama, but comedy's always better with a bit of balance. The finish ends up falling flat for me. In an attempt to avoid a major spoiler I can't say what that was, but it will likely be obvious to anyone who's read it. Not a horrible book, but I'm glad I got it on swap rather than paid full shot.

Conclusion of the Fred the Mermaid series. Fred has taken a leave of absence from her job, moved to Florida, and become an Ambassador for the Mer Folk. Jonas is planning his wedding to Dr. Barb, and in the midst of this, some Mer Folk go missing. To top it off, Fred is trying to make a decision in regards to Artur's proposal. I really enjoyed this book. It's not great literature, but it's entertaining, with an interesting plot. Chapter 37 is my absolute favorite. We meet Thomas' father, from his perspective. Cheesy, but I thought it was very sweet. I'm happy for Fred. Good Book.
I never feel like MaryJanice Davidson likes her character Fred. She gives her an ugly name and doesn't make her life all that interesting. Because I thought her vampire series was funny I kept picking up these books, but predictable and tedious is the main course.
A truly fun read. The entire cast of characters is fun and entertaining. The writing is well done and makes you just want to finish in one sitting. While this is not my first book by MJ Davidson, this, my first try for this series, is the one that I have truly enjoyed. I recommend this to anyone who likes to have their funny bone tickled.

Hilarious. Was very disappointed to read that there wouldn't be any more books about Fred and the gang to look forward to. Well, at least there are still the undead books about Betsy. Great author.
This book was funny, fast reading with a different twist on romance and suspense. I would recommend reading the first two in the series first in order to understand this one better. Great ending, hope she continues with the story.
3rd book in Mermaid series by MJD. The book began with a short recap of the prior books, so this book could be read as a stand alone representing the entire series.

Typical Mary Janice Davidson. Funny, sassy, quick paced. Don't like Fred the Mermaid as much as Undead Betsy, but it's still good
This is the last book of the Fred the Mermaid trilogy. While not as hilarious as the previous (indeed, some of the recurring character jokes get a teeny bit tedious at times), it was still a fun light read with a little mystery thrown in. Fred the half-mermaid is stressed out by the responsibilities and annoyances that come with being the spokesperson for all the Undersea Folk, now that they have revealed themselves to humankind. She is still torn between her attraction to Thomas her doctor friend and Artur, prince of the mer-folk. And Mekkam the King has another problem besides trying to reconcile the 2 factions among his people - it seems some of them have disappeared beyond even his telepathic ability to find, and he needs Fred's and her friends' help to figure out where they have gone and whether or not others are threatened. As entertaining as this was, and as satisfying the ending, I am rather glad this is it (or so the author claims) for this character. I'm not sure she can come up with any more interesting directions to take Fred and not stagnate. But then again I could be wrong....

Though not the greatest book of the Fred series nor the worst...this book was just in the middle. Calling this a romance book is something of a laugh, if you're looking for romance scenes..well..I've seen t.v. shows on regular t.v. that were steamier than this. This was about as hot as a day old pancake when it comes to the romance part of the novel (which you blink and you miss it...) This should have been considered more of a mystery instead of a romance novel due to the mystery of why mermaids disappear from the king's thoughts and of course it's up to Fred to help. Again still interesting, but the romance part of this book was pretty much nadda. I'm glad to see the series end as the first book was great and then it kept going downhill from there.

Great book. Definitely a great author. I'm not much of an atlantis/sea folk genre reader. But I enjoy all of MaryJanice Davidson's books.

This series was a easy and light read. The ending was pleasantly wrapped up. But the author chapters were too short and the book line spacing was too much. This could have easily have been a single book. It was a nice, easy read though and if you like MaryJanice Davidson then I do recommend getting this series for a quick one night read.
Where I thought this was a good book, it got old with all the redundant dialogue between characters (whining, insulting, name-calling, etc.). I'm not sorry to see the series end, as it had a pretty weak plot in this book, but it's good for a fast read.
Very sad to see this series end. I loved it like the rest of the books. But I have to say that this book like many of MJD books are really novellas. Double spaced paper backs of less than 300 pgs? COme on! It's a rip. This entire series could have easily been condensed into one book. MJD should be ashamed of herself. And I will not buy a book from her new until she stops this practice.

This book was OK. I was disappointed.In the last Fred book .I laughed so hard,the King of the Sea People was hilarious. I am glad this is the last one. This may be the last MJD book I buy.
