The book was well written. I enjoyed several of her articles. There was a peice on Compassion (p 70) which she discusses just falling into nursing at an early age, and ends with a note of how we can become a Community of Compassion, even in our sufferings. It was powerful for me. I've marked it and re-read it several times.

On the other hand, I am not sure the flow of the book was well thought out. I think even though this was a compilation of the early writings, I felt like Sue Monk Kidd could have written some material to preface each piece. Some transitional material to give the peices more flow rather than just a bound copy of her early articles re-arranged by categories. No commentary made the pieces seem a bit disconnected.

If you like the poetry peices, or reading articles, this is the book for you. If you are looking for a story, not so much.

An interesting look at the viewpoint and voice of the writer. I enjoyed reading this book after having read two other novels of hers first.
