Although "First Mothers: The Woman Who Shaped the Presidents" is an interesting topic, this book had a few serious flaws. First, you really don't get too much information about the mothers. It's mostly inferred from the situations and minor passing comments made by those who knew these women. Then, each chapter jumps back and forth in time making the story line confusing. Finally, Ms. Angelo, whose writing leaves much to be desired, appeared to get sidetracked far too often into innuendos, opinions, and unrelated comments making the book too long and too opinionated.
