Evie Porter has been conning people for years. She started in this life to make money to help her ailing mother. Evie later began working for the mysterious Mr. Smith, a man she has never met. He gives her a new identity and explicit instructions with each job that he wants done.

Evie's latest mark is Ryan Sumner, a handsome businessman. She has been tasked with watching Ryan and reporting on his business transactions. Evie didn't expect to have feelings for Ryan after getting to know him. When an old friend of Ryan's comes to town, bringing his girlfriend with him, the girlfriend introduces herself as Lucca Marino. That throws Evie for a loop. Evie's real name is Lucca Marino, and this look-alike is spouting facts about her life as if it were her own. Has Mr. Smith sent this woman to throw Evie off her game? Or is something else going on?

I'm not a huge fan of psychological thrillers, but a friend recommended this book so I thought I would give it a try. Turns out, I loved it! The story is fast-paced with a complex plot. It is told from Evie's point-of-view in the present and through a series of flashbacks where we learn about Evie's life as a conwoman. There were lots of surprises that kept me glued to the story.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Saskie Maarleveld who did an outstanding job with the many characters in this book. My rating: 5 Stars.

A very, very clever thriller that keeps you guessing right till the end. The cons pulled by the main character and *on* her were fascinating and intricate. A great read with a lot of psychological twists and almost no violence.

This book was so much fun! It reminds me of Alias: the old show with Jennifer Garner and Bradley Cooper before he became a heartthrob.

Lots of twists and turns in this one. Not sure I completely buy the ending, though.
