I loved this book - from the first page it just sucked me in. It had romance (but not too much!), mystery, quirkiness, and fun 'word battles' between the main characters. I think I also liked that Eden Palmer, the main character, is a woman in her 40's! I'm getting tired of reading romances with the main character being 25! I gave it 4.5 stars!

This is a real good read. I enjoyed the main characters and the story was refreshingly different.

What can be said about Jude that has not been said. This book is as good as all her other books in both modes historical and contempory.
Another terrific romantic suspense by Deveraux. An old house that holds secrets, a heroine on the run and not one, but two great looking guys! AWESOME!

I had never read this author before. But I must say that the book grabbed me from the beginning and held me to the end! VERY entertaining!

Eden Palmer's daughter Melissa has married and Eden must now begin the second half of her life. But her arrival in a small southern town soon plunges her into a mystery that threatens not only her plans and reputation, but her life....and when two eligible bachelors pursure her, Eden is flattered-and more than a little suspicious.
Eden tries to star a new life now that her daughter(which she has raised alone) is married but she becomes entanged in a mystery and two men who try to help her. But, is one of them the mystery maker?
It was a fun book. I generally don't read Deveraux's "modern" stories but I was facing a long flight. This was a great distraction and had some funny moments. A fun read.
Another great Jude Deveraux book!
When Eden Palmer moved into Farrington Manor, the charming house that was willed to her, she hoped her new home in lovely Arundel, North Carolina, would provide the fresh start she needed. Her beloved daughter, Melissa, whom Eden raised on her own, was married now, and Ededn must begin a new chapter. But her arrival in the small Southern town soon plunges her into a mystery tjat threatens not only her plans and reputation, but her life...... and when two eligible bachelors pursue her, Eden is flattered-and more than a little suspicious. Can she use one man to dave her from the other?

At first I found this was slow reading but as I read it got more interesting. It is about a woman who inherited a house in a small southern town. Not only did she inherit the house she also inherited two centuries old mysteries: a missing necklace and some art work. She also has two men who are interested in her. To find out the outcome you must read the book.
Like all Jude's books, this one is great until the middle and then it draaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaags on forever to get to the end. But it's a good story. Main heorine is 45! And so are the TWO men who are trying to catch her heart. That's a refreshing change.
Deveraux is the best. Read all her books!

The Montgomery story continues with Jared.... Good read. Jared's boss gives him his next assignment, and tells him he must seduce the woman who is suspected of being involved with a known spy to find out what she knows. Eden Palmer works in New York, and lives with her daughter and son-in-law, who moved in temporarily two years ago. When she inherits a house in a small North Carolina town, she decides to get away from it all. When she arrives, she is surprised to find two men falling at her feet, FBI agents spying on her, and someone trying to kill her......
When Eden moved into the small southern town, she was hoping for the slow down of her life. It was not to be.
i love all of judy deveraux books

A wonderful book...I really enjoyed the characters and mysterious plot. The ending was a little abrupt but my imagination could easily fill in the gaps. GREAT!
