Navajo Tribal police officer is murdered and Lt. Jim Chee catches the Hopi eagle poacher in the act. So why is retired Joe Leaphorn searching for a missing female biologist in the same area? Maybe the skinwalker knows.

I love the way Hillerman weaves Navaho and Hopi traditions into a murder mystery, and this book is a prime example. Jim Chee is now Acting Lieutenant, and Joe Leaphorn has retired. But, of course, Leaphorn can't resist a mystery...
A good read.

Jim Chee and Joe Leaphorn. PBS did a good job of telling these stories; but the book has much
greater dimension. A gritty story with touches of
humor placed in the Navajo nation.

This book features Acting Lt. Jim Chee and retired Lt. Joe Leaphorn. Chee is working on the murder of a Navajo Police Officer and Leaphorn is working on finding a missing woman who went missing on the same day and in the same area as the Police Officer's murder. The two end up working together to solve both mysteries. Even though Chee is sure he already has his man.

Complex, engrossing...Leaphorn and Chee are at it again.
