Remarks by Ann Rule, "FIRST AVENUE has an authenticity that only a real cop could convey. Sights, sounds, smiells, and - most of all - real emotion mark this novel as a winner! I loved this Book!"

Not usually my sort of book, but picked this up at a UBS going out of business sale and it just sat on my TBR pile. Finally read it and was very quickly hooked!!! Very good book...promptly ordered the next two! Great characters and story.

This story was a interesting police drama about a cop who was on a drug smuggling case that had involved the Chief of Police, some members of his department, and the donut shop man as smugglers. The cop, Sam would travel by kayak, in the ocean to work everyday. Sam's kayak was name after the indian girl that he loved, Gloria. Sam had a daughter, Maria and didn't know it until Maria went looking for him when she was old enough, found him in Seattle, and didn't know how to approch him until she found out that he visited the donut shop everyday. Maria took a job there not knowing that her unknown dad the cop was investigating the donut shop. The drug trade happened on the ocean and it gets really exciting then, and after Sam and a few good cops had busted the smugglers daughter tells who she is. It was an interesting story.
