Strong series with unique storyline- ability to control weather and psychic links to genies (as in the bottle type of genie). However...by the time you're at book 5....the story is getting a little old and it felt like a lot of filler...however, the ending is a cliff hanger, so of course I'll buy the next one!

This is essentially the second half of Windfall (Book 4) with the last chapter being the first chapter of Book 6. The series concept is interesting and unique among paranormals, the characters are strong, the ideas are good. Caine doesn't seem to feel that is enough to keep folks reading, however, and ends most of the books in a rather annoying "Tune in tomorrow, folks, for the next world threatening adventure" manner, ripping any sense of satisfaction from the reader. Start at the beginning and make sure you have them all before you start or be prepared for frustration.

Wonderful weather warden book, but must be read in order, so be sure to read the other four, or you may not understand what the heck is going on.

After the death of Jonathan, Joanne's lover David has taken over leadership of the Djinn. He told Joanne that the agreement between the Weather Wardens and the Djinn is now broken. They will no longer be slaves to the Wardens. David also warned her that Mother Nature is waking up...and she is not happy. Joanne frantically races to New York to warn the Wardens about the impending apocalypse.

I thought this book was an uneven addition to the series. It started out just where the last book ended. But then the story started to drag for me. I almost gave up on this book, but thankfully I kept on reading and it finally got very interesting. The second half of the book was non-stop action with Jo, David and their fully grown daughter, Imara, fighting to save the human race. My rating 3.5 Stars.

After the last book, I was starting to wonder if Caine was letting her world run amuck and get away from her, but she seems to have regained control and produced another well-crafted twist in her fascinating world of Wardens, Djinn, and a malevolent Mother Earth. Joanne and her half-djinn daughter Imara have to warn the Wardens that the ancient agreement that enslaved the djinn to the humans has been broken, and they no longer have the djinn to command in their battle against the elements. Worse, Mother Earth is waking up, causing a rise in natural disasters around the world that now have only half the Wardens needed to contain them. And if she wakes up completely and discovers what humans have done to the earth, it will mean nothing less than the apocalypse as she controls all the djinn. Somehow Joanne must become a conduit between humans and Mother Earth, and to do so she must find the Oracles, beings more powerful than the djinn - and survive the encounter. It's a fast-paced good read that takes the series in another interesting direction, which more than makes up for the action-movie one-liners and sassy prose that teeter on the edge of cliche.
