The ending was left a little too open for me, but this was a captivating story of a young girl in her search for a mother that abandoned her. The growth, development and change in parenting style of the grandmother was also very enjoyable aspect of the book.

I've always liked Reynold's writing style, her books deliver everytime. You meet some pretty interesting characters in the story, who are all dealing with their own conflicts, but they are all connected. Your heart will go out to Tessa Lee!

Eight-year-old Tessa Lee and her little brother were abandoned in a campground by their hapless mother, dependent on her latest boyfriend, and on her next fix. Seven years later, and still living with the grandmother who took them in to her mobile home, Tessa Lee hears a rumor of her mother's whereabouts and sets out to find her. Not surprisingly, little has changed for the mother and she is not anxious to be 'found.' Despite the unflinching looks at the tragedies that have dogged all this family's lives, this manages to be a hopeful book, with a new friend and new wisdom for Tessa Lee, and the hope, at the end, for possible reconciliations.

I enjoyed this book especially the character development of the grandmother. Great themes of loss, becoming, and redemption!

I love Sheri Reynolds and this is the best book she has written in my opinion. Wonderful characters and plot. Two young children abandoned by their mother and raised by their Grandparents. As a teenager the daughter sets out to find her mother and grows up along the way. Great read that you can't put down until your finished.

This was so good, rich loving characters with flaws and relateable situations. You have to have some time to read because you won't want to put it down!

This is a great novel and I loved the characters. You won't be able to forget them, no matter how you feel about them.

Wonderful and heartbreaking story of a young girl and her wayward mother.

Not your usual Phoenix rising from the flames type story. A bit of mystical content, yet probably more grounded in what would really happen in this type of situation

I really enjoyed this book. About two young kids that their mom left and all she left was the firefly cloak and a phone number. The little girl years later looks for her mom and is wearing the cloak so her mom will recognize her. This was a pretty fast read as once I started I couldn't put the book down.

Although there were some parts of this book that were redemptive, there were other parts that just plain made me uncomfortable. It was a bit too graphic at times. I finished it, but almost wish I hadn't, since the ending left me wanting.
A Target Bookmarked Breakout novel. Good read about family, loss and redemption.
Very moving, but sad
very good
Still reading but I think it is very good
Another good book by Sheri Reynolds.
It was an okay book, but nothing intense or suspenseful about it.
Mom ditches kids and they are raised by grandparents. Mom pops in much later and finds out her dad died and her young son has been killed.
Hmmm....does she turn her life around or continue to be an asswipe?
