A well-written, but odd book. Johnson really understands a lot of science, but frames the ideas against the background of the land, history and culture of the natives of New Mexico. He contrasts their ideas of cosmology, etc. with those of our leading scientists, particularly those at the Santa Fe Institute. The part on information theory is very good.
