Union Captain Caleb Morgan is wounded and left for dead in the retreat of his troops, but his luck changes when he's discovered by Megan Llewellyn.

Megan's community, Black Hollow, Tennessee, is purposely isolated but staunchly Confederate. Megan knows that Caleb will be killed if he's found, so she hides him in her cabin.

When Megan learns that her fianc, Seth Brennan, is in a Union prison camp, she is even more determined for Caleb to recover so she can trade him for Seth.

Caleb's recovery is difficult, but he's more concerned with the drudgery and restrictions Megan accepts as normal in her life. In Black Hollow conduct is ruled by the men and the religion they have adopted, and beautiful Megan, who loves to read and draw, must hide both because they are viewed as a waste of time.

Great read! I enjoyed the backdrop of the Civil War and the authentic ring of the historical facts. Wonder how often this actually happened?

Things had changed the day war came to ther mountain. Now it was time to decide between the Rebel to whom she'd been promised, and the Union captain, Caleb Morgan. To choose Caleb would mean turning her back on everything that had gone before, yet how could she surrender the man who had captured her heart!

Captain Morgan was certain of only two things in life: that he hated the war, and that he loved Megan, a woman of courage and compassion who had rescued him from the cold embrace of death. Yet how could he ask her to leave behind the only life she'd ever known, and break her promise to another man?
