CAUTION! I've read many true crime books and books written by victims and this has got to be the most intense book I've ever read. michelle knight is truly
one one of the most remarkable women I've ever had the
pleasure to read about. she has a strength I will never
achieve. truly a remarkable book! it is a VERY graphic
book but worth it!

WOW! I read this from cover to cover all the way through because I just could not put it down. This poor girl had a terrible life even before she was kidnapped. Perhaps most shocking of all (to some) is the fact that she was able to forgive her tormentor. Michelle is a true American hero.

Finding Me is a book I couldn't put down once I started reading it. Michelle's story is so powerful and heartbreaking. Michelle is a strong woman to have endured all she did in her life from before the kidnapping to the torture and abuse of the monster for all those years. I was in tears for a lot of her memoir. This book is an excellent read about such a resilient woman.

I would put Finding Me by Michelle Knight on a level with Man's Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl. First they are both first hand accounts. Frankl was a jewish psychologist caught up in homicidal madness of Hitler's rise to power. Michelle was caught up in another evil beyond her control. Both survived but I feel Michelle contributed more to her own survival, where Frankl had those little twists of fate save him. Something I noticed was the clinging to good memories, for Frankl it was his wife, for Michelle it was her son. These memories were vital for each of them in keeping, the will to live, alive. In Frankls case his wife was long dead and he had to find new meaning to carry on. Michelles son is still out there and that is still a hope for her. However her self-less love continues as she finds meaning in being a voice for all the still missing. Personally I hope I will never talk myself into dismissing my gut feelings about somebody I feel is weird or off. I hope I investigate as far as I can while still feeling safe. If the gut feelings persists I want the courage to risk being wrong and make that call to the police. Let Michelle's voice grow ever stronger! I was listening and so should everybody.

This book tells the story of girl (Michelle Knight) growing up in homelessness and poverty, sometimes roasting hot dogs on a radiator to survive with her siblings. She talks about being 4'2" and often being mistaken for a little kid, the lack of education she received, the stench of herself while growing up, causing no one to befriend her; the years of sexual abuse received from a man her parents let stay in a house they had for a while, the time she ran away from home living underneath a bridge, her first love and the child she loved as a result, and eventually her last day being able to explore the world freely as a 21 year old before being kidnapped and forced into sexual slavery for 11 years as a prisoner in "the dude's house" (bringing in two other girls in the mix after her first year).

Her story is also about her faith. Her story is one that is raw and yet so positive despite how awful it is. There are things in this that should upset us, yet she has nothing but forgiveness for those who hurt her. She shares how God spared her life and how she has no doubts of Him being with her all those years.

There is some graphic content in this book, considering rapes, torture, beatings, and things I don't want to give away that are also horrific. She does use some strong language here and there as well, but it is more sporadic if anything.

I really could not put this book down. I read it throughout a day because I was so interested in learning more about what was happening. So much of this woman's life had been taken from her. It is really great, though definitely sad.

Omg - Michelle Knight's experience was horrific; one I can barely wrap my head around. How does a person survive what she lived through? Her story is an in-your-face reminder of just how much I have to be thankful for. She is the embodiment of resilience and hope--even after more than a decade in captivity! Amazing read. 5 stars.

When I first started reading Finding Me, I had to put the book down several times and walk away because it was too much. But after Amanda Berry, the second girl got kidnapped, I didn't stop reading until I finished⦠6 hours later at five o'clock in the morning.

Finding Me is the most depressing book I've ever read. It made me so incredibly thankful for the life I have!!! But also so angry that God could allow this to happen. Especially after everything Knight had already been through. I know Finding Me is supposed to be a story of triumphant, but it just made me feel so depressed.

Michelle Knight had a rather unsettled childhood. Parents never seemed to care about feeding her, clothing her, housing her. She eventually ran away and ended up pregnant. She went back home with her baby boy, Joey.
She did not have many friends, but knew a few girls and some of their parents. She is raising her son to the best of her ability and seeking jobs. The father to one of her friends has offered her a ride to find his daughter and he brings her to his house on Seymour Ln, Cleveland for a supposed short stop to pick something up. He lures her into the house with the promise of puppies.
From that point, Michelle's life becomes one of pure torture. Ariel Castro chains her, takes her clothes, beats her, and keeps her a prisoner for 11 years.

I think this is one of the strongest women I will ever know about. This woman does so much for other victims and I think she is amazing.
