I love Linwood Barclay's books and this one did not disappoint. It's a race against time and tech millionaire Miles Cookson has been diagnosed with a terminal illness. Two decades ago, Miles was a sperm donor. He thinks he may have nine children and he would like them to inherit his money. Chloe Swanson embarks on a quest to find her biological father. Her mother used a New York sperm bank to become pregnant 22 years ago. Miles and Chloe eventually connect but a series of mysterious and terrifying events shows that there is a vicious killer trying to erase his heirs. Who is this person or is something more sinister going on. This plot kept me glued to the book until the very explosive end. I enjoyed the characters and found them believable. Barclay is an excellent storyteller and has proved it with this one. If you love psychological suspense, you will love this one!

Tech millionaire Miles Cookson has just received the news that he has a terminal illness and may have little time left. Since Huntingdon's disease is genetic, there is a good chance that any children Miles has could also have the disease. Twenty-Two years ago, before Miles made his millions, he donated sperm to a fertility clinic for money. Now Miles has learned that he has nine offspring that he wants to find and make them his heirs. The first one he finds is Chloe Swanson, a waitress in Rhode Island who has been trying to learn about her father. She is happy to finally meet her birth father and wants to help Miles find the others so she can meet her half-siblings. But one by one, the people on Miles' list are disappearing without a trace. Miles begins to realize that someone wants to wipe out any trace of his children.

This was a highly entertaining, edge of your seat ride! Two hired killers are knocking off the children that Miles has recently learned about. We learn quickly who is behind the murders. That doesn't stop the author from including some twists in the plot that were a big surprise.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Greg Newbern. He did a terrific job with the many characters in this story. My rating: 5 Stars.

Excellent story, couldn't put it down. The twists just keep coming, and when it's all said and done, very satisfying.

WOW! This book is one of the most well written books I've read in a long time!

The story flows along so smooth you can read it quickly.

In the beginning you think you know what is happening but then wham! that first twist comes and you're thinking wow was I wrong, then story gets intense and it's hard to put down!

Unbelievably well plotted story. Pulls you along irresistibly with tons of surprises. Not predictable at all, very contemporary, believable. Highly recommended if you like what I guess are called domestic thrillers - with regular people instead of Navy Seals, Army Rangers or CIA-trained spies.
