Detective Tracy Crosswhite has a new case. A serial killer that the cops have named "The Cowboy" is killing exotic dancers. Their bodies are left in cheap motels. A task force has been created and Tracy is the lead detective. She sees a parallel between these cases and an old case from years ago that was investigated by Tracy's supervisor and nemesis, Johnny Nolasco. It looks like the wrong person was convicted of the crime and a killer is getting away with murder.
The second book in the Tracy Crosswhite series is even better than the first. This was a fast-paced mystery with lots of suspects. I kept changing my mind about the identity of the killer. I never did guess the right person. Johnny Nolasco is once again trying to get Tracy fired or demoted. By naming her the task force leader, he has set her up for a fall. I just love to hate the Nolasco character.
I was happy to see that Tracy's friend, Dan O'Leary, continues in this series. Tracy asks him to look into the case that was solved by Nolasco several years ago, to see if the wrong person was convicted. I like Tracy and Dan's relationship and hope to see more of them together in the future. My rating: 4.5 Stars.
