I have read a LOT of books, mainly science fiction but plenty of other genres, too. There are a few rare books where just the beginning paragraphs of the Prologue just grabs my attention. I'm not talking about what they mean, but just the composition and artistry of how they are put together.

Oh. And the story line, characters, and the world of Stillness are pretty great also.

This is going to be one of my few 5-star ratings.

BTW. The science behind the premise is pretty solid, too.

Um...wow! I'm still trying to wrap my head around this one. This novel was so beautifully complex without becoming convoluted.

I'm still trying to make sense of the fact that the three women we follow in this story is all the same person at different times in their life. Maybe I'm thick, but I had no clue until the final chapters. I never realized that each "character's" story was set during a different time period. To me they were just three people living their lives, which I assumed would intersect at some point. Well, I wasn't off on that.

Excellent writing. Fascinating story. Intriguing characters. I can totally see why this won awards! I don't even know what to say. This was fantastic!
