In the peaceful world of a youth named Matthew, a violent future awaits. For an evil king has uncovered the rings that once destroyed his world and plans to conquor what civilization has recovered. Matthew will win a ring, lose his father and his home, and become a hunted renegade along with his best friends. This is the story of a farm boy answering the call of fate to face off in a David vs. Goliath match of good vs. evil with the fate of the world in the balance. This is a good fantasy story with well written characters and is a stand along book which is also the first of a series of three.

Very interesting with different ideas and situations, but not sit-on-the-edge-of-your-seat. Still, I read all three books in the series. All in all, a good book (definitely better than average), just not one I would stay up all night for.

This is a typical "country boy realizes he is to save the world with magic" fantasy trilogy. I have met the author and he is a delightful man. Enjoy!
