This is a great collection. I realized after I started it that I'd read some of these stories some years back, possibly when they first came out in OMNI. They haven't faded any in the interim, either. Some will give you cold shivers, macabre and eerie; some will make you wonder what we seem to think the criteria are for 'being human.' Others will scare the wadding right out of you---wa-a-a-y too plausible for comfort.

From back cover: Enter a world of brilliant imagination---where anything can happen and all is possible. A world of spacestations, computers and highly sophisticated medical technology. A world of the future---straight from the minds of fourteen of today'smost promising science fiction writers. Here from the pages of OMNI Magazine, you'll be treated to short stories from Robert Silverberg and Nebula and Hugo Award winner William Gibson, as well as work from Howard Waldrop, Norman Spinrad, Orson Scott Card, Pat Cadigan and others.---Welcome to the future!
