It's books like this that remind me why I don't usually read a lot of these 'modern' (yet sadly dated) Harlequin's.

The author's character's are shallow and tacky. I mean really, I thought it's supposed to be a romance-- Instead a person ends up reading about a woman who's suffering from some warped kind of Stockholm Syndrome who easily gets over being practically raped on her wedding night and a guy who bullies her around in ways that would be considered physically abusive today. Read at your own peril, I did and am slapping myself for it! :P

The heavy gold band on her finger it was actural true. Natalie was Mrs. Colter Langton! In return to solutions to her problem she had a bargain to keep. I would not be easy, Colter could be hard and unfeeling. "I don't particularly like myself" he warned her. "Its just as well you know now, the kind of man I am. That way you won't expect much from our marriage." In Natalie had secretly hoped something would grow between- the dream ended with his words.
