Felicity's adventures are always great fun. She learns a valuable lesson but not what she had expected. As always a good opportunity to talk about one's choices. The back of the book provides a lesson on the proper curtsy and the Minuet. A good way to introduce children to the type dancing of Felicity's day would be to find a family oriented Contra dance. The Fiddleheads are a group in my area of musicians whose ages go up to teenagers and a few adults and they play jigs and reels which are fun to dance to. A fun book to read and learn from.

Felicity begins dancing lessons at Miss Manderlys. The lessons are hard but Felicity improves when she borrows her siter Nan's dainty shoes. When Felicity has to wear her own shoes again she learns the dancing magic is in her feet not her shoes.This is a great historical story about Colonial Williamsburg with a large section with photos and true facts about historical Williamsburg.
