Another intricately told story with compelling characters. I was brought up short by another outlandish coincidence (as I was in the story set in Scotland -- Legacy of the Dead.) And for a book as long as this, it seemed to end abruptly. Recommended for Todd fans and those looking for a mystery you need to pay attention as you read, but it leaves a few threads hanging.
Another great Inspector Rutledge story.
A good mystery that takes place in 1912. Ian Rutledge helped gather evidence that sent a man to the gallows seven years ago. New evidence makes him question the man's guilt.
"briliant... who'd have thought that Charles Todd's brilliant concept for a mystery ... would not only continue but grow stronger from book to book." --CHICAGO TRIBUNE -- An Inspector Ian Rutledge Mystery
I am reading the whole series of Inspector Ian Rutledge mysteries by Charles Todd. They are great "Who dun it?" mysteries to solve....and this as others have an interesting ending. All take place in England post WWI....fun to envision the landscape if you have ever been there and to read the English terminology as "the boot" of the "motor car". Good character development.
I started with the Charles Todd series through a book review in the Sunday paper. I read one book and was hooked and now am reading all the series in chronological order and through Paperback Swap I have been able to get the older books.
