I have to say...this is the first time I have been disappointed and didn't have to read the book in one sitting (I had to remind my self to finish this one). Not too much going on with this installment and the laughs were few and far between. I'm a Ranger girl, so this one doubly disappointed me.
Is it just me, or did anyone notice that the books are getting printed in larger fonts with bigger margins? I'd say the story line has about run it's course. This one could have been squeezed in as an in-between book because it just seemed to lack...SOMETHING.
By the way, I waited for the usual funny line about were grandpa Mazur is...and it was missing. That always set a tone for the book, if you ask me.
The Lula/Tank side-story line was the best part of this installment. The whole Brenda thing was ridiculous--and not in a good way.
(...ho-hum...)

I totally wasted my money buying this the day of release...
Even though I've loved this series, something about this one was just... well... missing. I got my laughs (light as they were), but the story seemed weak. Maybe I'm getting too picky as a reader, or maybe the author just rushed this one. I know I've found the earlier ones far more enjoyable than this one, though. They also seemed longer. The book I had looked like I had bought a large print edition and so I got through it extremely quickly (which was okay, because it was less painful this way).
The characters were seriously lacking and Stephanie really needs to stop pulling the chains on Ranger and Joe and just freaking pick one already! It also seemed like Evanovich brought back Mooner just because he's a favorite and she needed to do a little more writing because she was lazy with the story. I've read the series because I loved laughing so hard I was crying, but all I really got out of this was a few chuckles. Lula was good, but I still expected more out of her character as well.
It really reminds me of her earlier books (some of which should never have been re-released but apparently publishers decided to take advantage of how well this series was doing...)
Overall, I won't be running to the store when the next one comes out. There are other authors out there that deserve my hard-earned cash.

It was OK.
That about sums it up. The fans looking for a resolution for the Steph-Morelli-Ranger triangle will be disappointed ... there was very little love-line interaction (a few conversations, a few smacks of the lips, but very little detail regarding the mindset of Ms. Plum.)
The BIG mystery: the who-done-robbed the bank and hid the money 10 years ago, and now wants it mystery??? It was OK. Nothing exciting.
The skips: uh ... what skips? There were very few of the usually laugh-inducing skip take-downs.
The laughs: I chuckled a few times, but there was no laugh-until-I-cry episodes.
The monkey: .. all I have to say is WHY? There was no reason to have a monkey as a gimmick for a plot point. There were a few comments about finding monkey poop, etc, but the monkey could have been left out of the story completely, and the book would have been better for it. It screamed gimmick to me.
The side characters:
Lula - gotta love that woman. She's a big hoot.
Grandma - I didn't buy the big gamer g-ma, either. Although Grandma is 'hip', buying her as a hardcore gamer is an enormous stretch.
Mooner - I loved seeing Mooner back :)
So overall, if you are a fan, you may be glad you read it. It's Stephanie Plum, who is still entertaining .. but don't expect to find your new favorite of the series. I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it .. but I'm still glad that I read it. 3 stars.

Fearless Fourteen was a huge disappointment. I thought after a feckless thirteen, Evanovich would really ramp things up on this series. Instead Evanovich has gotten either bored, lazy or both.
Besides being an absolute snooze, Fearless Fourteen was poorly written. The storyline was undeveloped, characters were assassinated, and what was formerly a laugh out loud series fell flat.
In today's struggling economy I cannot in good conscience recommend the public spending their hard earned $25 on this book. Spend it on an author who is still working hard to entertain you and loves his or her characters. Or spend it on 5 gallons of gasoline. I won't be waiting around to see if JE can redeem herself with a 15th book. So I am saying goodbye to Stephanie Plum.

As an avid reader of all 14 Stephanie Plum books, I must say this one was ok but not near as good as some of the earlier ones. The funniest thing in this book was watching Tank's reaction to Lula's "engagement". That and the Potato Brigade. There are no car chases, no blown up cars, Stephanie doesn't get stuck in any really "difficult" situations, like those that she is so famous for. And Brenda and the monkey are just unnecessary. If you like Stephanie Plum, I'd go ahead and read this one but I certainly wouldn't spend full price on the book. Wait until it makes the rounds.

Still funny as usual, but I think this series has about run its course. It time for Stephanie to pick Morelli or Ranger. This one is a bit of a let down in the end. Still worth the laughs.

Well it seems like I waited for this forever and then my mom went and bought it. I read it in 2 sittings. It has some funny parts but it felt forced, like I knew I should laugh so I did. By the time I was half way done I realized the plot had been set and I stopped looking for a more interesting story. A little dissapointing for me, I think the book was put together with the intent of getting laughs versus creating a decent story line. Lula got a good share of the story this time and Tank actually spoke. If you are a big fan you must read it, but if you are new to this series don't start with this one.

Woohoo! I finally got to read Fearless Fourteen. I have to say that Janet Evanovich is one of the only authors that my husband knows I'm reading without looking at the book. I swear that I giggle and laugh through every single book. I see some reviews that state that the series is getting stupid and ridiculous and I do NOT agree at all. I love Stephanie and the whole motley crew around her. I love a book that can make me smile inside and out.
What happened? Fearless Fourteen was weak as water! The storyline was lame, I think. And, what's with the monkey? There wasn't a lot to laugh about this time. It didn't take very long to read. I think it's due to the large format in which it was printed. All in all, it was underdeveloped and poorly written. Sorry Janet!

Im not going to give a book synopsis. What I am going to do is say goodbye to one of my all time favorite series. The last couple of books have been horrible, silly and ridiculous; this one was no exception.
The characters I once loved and look forward all year to hearing from are barely visible. The little quirks that used to make them unique and funny are now taking over their entire persona making them slightly moronic. The dialogue that used to be naturally witty seems forced and contrived. Jokes, gags and antics that once made me laugh have been recycled and reused so much, its sad.
No one in this series is growing or getting anywhere, they are all just going in circles. I want Stephanie to get better at the bounty hunter thing; I want her to grow up. I dont want her or Ranger or Joe to change, but after so many years you expect SOMETHING of substance to happen.
I barely got through this book. Janet has provided hours of entertainment for me in the past with this series and for that I will always be grateful. But I cant for the life of me see myself shelling out the big bucks for these hardcover books filled with drivel anymore.
I hope that Janet rethinks what she has been doing with this series lately and gives it a much needed overhaul. The last couple of books have seemed rushed and phoned in, a huge departure from the earlier books in the series.
My days of rushing to the bookstore on release dates are over. When book 15 comes out I will wait to read reviews, first. If the reviews make the book look promising, maybe I will read it. But from where I sit now, I dont see me opening another new Plum adventure. I will reread the older and much better books in the series if I need a Plum fix.

As usual, Steph is up to her old tricks involving all the gang; Morelli, Ranger, Lula, Tank, and grandma. Morelli's cousin, Dom, is out of prison for stealing and stashing nine million dollars. The clue to the location of the hidden money is in Morelli's basement! As soon as Dom's associates and family members figure that out, people start ending up dead, and Stephanie is right in the middle of the whole show!

This is not the one where Stephanie, Connie and Lula wind up in Las Vegas trying to nail a no-show.
This is the one where the basement and yard of Morelli's house get dug up in the mistaken belief that Dom Rizzi buried nine million buckaronies from a bank robbery there.
Dom is released from prison, and the other guys who were in on the heist want their share of the proceeds -- like now.
This is also the one where Stephanie grandmother and her friends make an alliance with Zook against the griefer, Mooner. Granny is relentless, no wonder they call her Scorch.
This is the one where Stephanie has to help Ranger with security for Brenda, a somewhat over-the hill but still oversexed rocker who is being stalked by a weirdo who also happens to be a cousin of hers. Figures.
Is Zook really Morelli's love child from high school days? (NO NO NO!!!!!)
WACKY humor as always -- Wait till the pizza attacks Brenda.

This was quite disappointing. I was in a hurry to read it, thinking there would be SOMETHING "big" with Ranger or Morelli but it just fizzled. I think Janet is running out of good plot lines and grasping at straws to sell books. She knows we'll buy the new releases because we are HOOKED but truth be told, she really disappointed a few of us with this one.
With the let-down from this, I decided to write my OWN sizzling mystery/Romance. Let's just hope Number 15 from Janet is more interesting with some sensualness in it. Not just a "Ohhh, he kissed me and I got warm to my hoohaa..." and go to the next day all in the same paragraph. She needs to indulge a little.

I have to say that this book was worth reading, just to hear news on all of the characters. I'm glad I didn't buy it, but borrowed it from the library. There was something different about it, although I can't pinpoint what. I enjoyed it, and am anticipating the next installment. I just enjoyed "Plum Lucky" more (Plum-in-between), since I laughed so hard I cried. That didn't happen with Fearless Fourteen.

This had a really good, solid mystery, and several zany characters as well as laugh out loud moments, but it seemed to be lacking something. Stephanie seemed to be too serious in this book, and the overall tone of the book was a little darker than usual. That being said, I've never read a Plum I didn't like, and this one is no exception, but I don't think this is the best one I've ever read either.

I bought this and then my daughter reminded me I had already read it! I hate that. But I do it all the time...anyway, this is another funny book but I didn't laugh quite as much as I have in the others. My favorite character, Grandma Mazur continues to do outrageous things and to say them as well! Stephanie Plum still wavers between Joe Morelli and Ranger and I keep rooting for Joe. :)
This is a hilarious series of funny storied books. I read one book and then had to find them all.
Unfortunately Janet doesn't know how to turn on the heat for the romantic side of her stories... and how come Stephanie is never compensated for her losses, and is always just an out of luck victim?? Her new brother in law could be suing these guys for her.

Wonderful as usual for Evanovich!
Another fun-filled romp with Stephanie Plum through the 'burbs of Jersey. This book introduces a few new characters, all of whom are guaranteed to make you laugh. Great summer read!
I enjoyed this book as I have enjoyed all of the rest of Ms. Evanovich's books. A quick, funny read and I can hardly wait for the next one.
This book had more laughs in it than the last couple I read in the series. I wish the characters would grow and the storylines progress a bit (after 14 books you think they would have already), but all in all an entertaining read.
Better and better
I am a long time fan

There is enough description to visit NJ and expect to find the neighborhood
but more fun to drive around with SP and the gang!!!!

This book had some amusing moments, but wasn't laugh-out-loud funny like the first couple of books in the series. The actual mystery was very weak. Yet another great Stephanie Plum adventure....with all the great characters that we love, but maybe not quite enough Ranger :)
This book was good- but not as interesting/funny as the rest of hers. I'm kind of partial to Ranger and didn't read much about him in this book.
I read the PBS reviews before I read this story, so I didn't expect much. However, I really enjoyed this story - almost as much as all the others. I still laughed out loud and loved the play between Stephanie and Ranger and Stephanie and Joe. I do agree with the other poster who said Stephanie and Joe seemed to have matured and Steph didn't make so many amatuer mistakes.... Grandma is still up to her usual kookiness.
Overall, another great story in the Stephanie Plum series.

I loved this book as much as I loved the first 13! And honestly, who can resist Joe Morelli and Ranger?!
I normally am one to find a copy of her latest "number" books and read it in one sitting. However, after reading a number of the reviews on here, I took my time and finally just got around to reading it. I liked it and she didn't disappoint. It still made me laugh and it contained the usual goofballs that somehow manage to hook up with Stephanie. There wasn't as much hot stuff with Ranger, but perhaps this is JE's way of steering Stephanie toward Joe. I thought it was an entertaining book, just like the rest of the series are. I will say though, that the story line is wearing out. How much longer can she have the two men after her and continue to make crazy mistakes and still be entertaining?
Woderfully funny! Evanovich at her best!
Not bad. Similar to the other books in the series. Got a few laughs. Enjoyable light reading.
I enjoyed this book. For the first time in awhile no cars were blown up, and Stephanie doesn't make so many amatuer mistakes. Both Joe and Stephanie seem to have matured, and that made, for me, an interesting change. Now, I can't wait to read Fifteen.
Another win for Evanovich. Laugh out loud funny but with good plot and great characters and dialog. Don't miss this one.
I thought her pervious books were better.
Very fun and exciting read with Stephanie Plum, bond reinforcer. Quite humorous.
I don't know how Janet continues to surprise readers after 14 novels, but she has in Fearless Fourteen. Stephanie Plum's character seems to get richer and richer while her adventures never get old.

Fun stuff with Stephanie, you can't go wrong with any in this series. She is funny and still doesn't know what she is doing yet in the bond business. Fun story line, characters are a riot and love the tension with Ranger and Joe. I am voting for Joe.

Stephanie and Morelli unwittingly become involved in the search for nine million dollars taken in a bank heist when the crooks think a clue to the money's location is hidden in Morelli's house.
they don't get any better than this... Be fearless: read FOURTEEN!
Stephanie's skip is related to a bank robbery from 10 years ago, while Brenda some film star tries to grope Ranger and steal the show so to say from our lucky bounty hunter.
Mooner guest star and Gary Brenda's stalker too! Our very own Homegrown Security to the rescue.
Crazy. Funny. Good time!

I read it in one evening. I laughed and laughed! Its typical Stephanie Plum and Janet Evanovich didn't let me down. I'm only sad because I have to wait another year for the next one!

Having been a fan of this series for several years now, I have to say this is the best installment since To The Nines. Many laugh out loud moments. Stephanie shows lots of maturity in this one, thinks things through. I was thrilled to see more of one mystery storyline rather than a series of skips that Steph bumbles her way through. I like to see her showing her intelligence. And Janet moved the triangle forward with plenty of interaction with Stephanie and Joe and a positioning of Ranger back in the role of mentor that he held in the first several books. New characters like Zook and Gary blended well with old favorite Mooner. Felt this book was more in line with the beginning of the series than any of the recent books and was happy to laugh out loud with Plum fun.
