This is the first of a series that lasts for 36 novels (plus two special editions). It is about Gaia Moore, a blond teenager in New York City who doesn't know she's beautiful and would rather beat someone up than wear a dress. She is the daughter of a CIA agent and was born without the fear gene. I read the whole series, and it kept my interest. But it is a little twisted sometimes, and there's a lot of violence. I wouldn't recommend this series to those under 13.

I read this book out of curiosity based on some other reader's posts, and found myself intrigued by the heart-soft, skin-tough Gaia. I'm going to read at least a couple more...maybe I'll be swept along for the entire ride!

I LOVED this series. I literally drove to 10 different libraries to read them all. There are over 20 books so if you're looking for something that keeps going and doesnt lose momentum pick this book.

This was an enjoyable book to read. The one that set the pace for an excellent series.

The 1999 debut of a series by the creator of "Sweet Valley High." Made into a failed WB series starring Rachael Leigh Cook in 2003. The series, directed by Jerry Bruckheimer, was bumped to make room for "One Tree Hill." I love the book's designit plays with typography. And I really love that Gaia's a 17-year-old girl who kicks ass -- literally. I'm worried that as the series goes along (there are more than three dozen), Gaia (pronounced "GUY-uh") will turn boy-crazy and lose the snark.

From the publisher
From the creator of "Sweet Valley High" comes a hip new series featuring seventeen-year-old Gaia Moore, a girl born without the fear gene. Trained as a blackbelt in karate with the reflex speed of an Olympic athlete, Gaia can throw a 175-pound man over her shoulder. She lives in New York City where there is plenty of opportunity to right wrongs, avenge hurts, and save the world. And to fall in love.

Young adult book about a girl born without the fear gene.
Gaia "I am powerful. I am graceful. I am angry. I am pure. I am raw. I am alone. I am Gaia. I am just like you. But I'm not--I'm fearless."
