I know that there has been controversy about this book. Some people say the 'black' dialect is insulting. I don't remember thinking of it as black as a kid and my children didn't either. I always thought of the dialect as southern. This is a very funny book and the characters are animals not people. I loved it and so did my kids and so did my grandkids.
