My copy was copyrighted in 1998 so it has older cover than one shown here.
These books have been re-released this year (2009) and inside the newest copies are shown 51 books in the Montana Mavericks series. Apparently what's been done is that the original series and later series (ie: Montana Mavericks: Return to Whitehorn) have all been lumped together for a total of 51 books (I've also found some titles of special books that fall in between the times of the original books (such as "Montana Mavericks Weddings).
This book falls at #4 in the original Montana Mavericks: Return to Whitehorn series and at #15 on the new 2009 Montana Mavericks series list.

Different cover.

Like a tiger prowling the darkest jungles, Sam Brightwater always sidestepped the terrifying trap of love. Still, he vowed to settle down. Start a traditional family. Do his tribe proud. So the last woman Sam should be attracted to was blue-eyed Julia Stedman, the half-Cheyenne visitor sampling her heritage before scurrying back to her ultramodern world. But Julia got under Sam's skin like a stubborn, sexy burr. And soon they were making love-making a baby!-and making mincemeat out of Sam's grand plan.
