Good book. Temperance is as compelling as always with her sense of right and wrong and her belief that every victim deserves to have his/her story told. Even when she is being set-up to look incompetent and her long-time friends are not standing behind her, she stands true to her beliefs.
Dr. temperance Brennan, forensic anthropologist, investigates a tragic airline disaster in the North Carolina Mts. and soon discovers a jarring piece of evidence that raises dangerous questions.
Very interesting forensic facts!!! Great author!!! Check out all of her books!!!
Keeps you hanging. Very detailed. Love the show "Bones", which is based on her work.
This was the first book I'd read by this author and I did enjoy it. I find it comparable to the Patricia Cornwell books, if you enjoy those you'll certainly like this. I had just gotten into the television show and was expecting it to be more like the show, and it wasn't. Still, I really liked the book and do recommend it.
Love the show and love the book!

Another great story. This one starts with a major plane crash in the nountains of NC only to morph into a second mystery. The parallel mysteries interwine and feed off each other. Although set in the US, Ryan was a part of this story; and ex-husband Pete made a significant showing too.
These books are nothing like the TV series, although I now enjoy both. I like that there is a French connection - I get to read the French and know what it says before the translation - although there is not too much French. The mystery is great - sure there is murder and mayhem - but it is more about putting the pieces together than gore. You also get to learn about a lot science and procedure - very interesting stuff, especially when it is not in a textbook!
By far the best in the series so far. The plot was more believable than the last two and the story was much more interesting.

Another amazing Tempe Brennan book.
After a deadly plane crash in the Smoky Mountains, Brennan finds something that doesn't seem to belong. While trying to solve the mystery, she gets fired from the DMORT team, but not even that can stop her.
Set in North Carolina, it's full of mysterious plot twists, a witty sense of humor, some quality time with Andrew Ryan, and a new furry companion. Definitely a must-read!!

Love these books too they are base for new Bones series
If anyone ever loves the chemistry of the show "Bones" you will love this book. It so reminds me of the actors! Great suspense.
It was a good one!
Caught in a web of deceit, Temperance Brennan is challenged mightily but triumphs brilliantly
Great edge of your seat ride. Lots of twists!

An investigation of a plane crash turns up body parts that can't be matched to the plane's passenger list, and the search to solve the riddle puts forensic anthropologist Temperance Brennan in mortal danger. This was an engaging read, but so dense with plot threads and red herrings that one eventually gives up and just goes along for the ride.
Wonderful forensic thriller--
A real fun read. Great characters that you can care about.
Sometimes I have a hard time getting into her books but this one moved pretty quick for me. On the whole, I enjoy this authors books.

What the author does with this series: Kathy Reichs started off slow but gets better and better. This is part of the series called the Tempe Brenner â Forensic Anthropologist. This paragraph applies to all books in this series. Tempe is a anthropologist who works for medical examiners in Montreal, Quebec and Charlotte North Caroline
Even though the books are often very detailed in both location and the examination of the remains, the story often moves faster than you expect.
Do you need to read this series in order: YES or you miss out on too much of the back stories.
Triggers: This is a book about medical examiners at its core, so lots of references to dead bodies, some are described in strong detail (in a forensic way). Our anthropologist ends up in some life threatening situations and on a couple of occasions in the series, animals are killed, sometimes gratuitously. Relatives of Tempe often in up wounded as the bad persons try to get to her through her family.
This book had a very different setting, which made it great.
"Fans of TV's CSI: Crime Scene Investigation should be in heaven" (People) stepping into the world of forensic anthropologist Dr. Temperance Brennan, star of Kathy Reichs' electrifyingly authentic bestsellers. Strong entry in the forensic anthropologist series staring Dr. Temperance Brennan
A commercial airliner disaster has brought Dr. Brennan to the North Carolina mountains as a member of the investigative agency DMORT. Bodies are distributed over a wide area and Dr. Brennan discovers a foot in an out of the way location and a clubhouse that no one remembers being there. Why after the discovery should Tempe be thrown from the DMORT team and have her professional reputation endangered? An Excellent read.
