I was surprised by the reviews of the two members that weren't that thrilled with this book. I was actually almost prepared to skip it. I liked the book a lot. I will agree that it was not as good as MY IMMORTAL but it was a good read all the same. There was a snipit from hernext paranormal romance TAKEN in the back of the book. I am looking forward to that one!

Second in McCarthy's "Seven Deadly Sins" series. This tells the story of Gabriel, former angel now demon, who is trying to figure out whether or not he killed his mistress 150 years ago. He meets Sara Michaels who is investigating her the murder of her own mother- who died the same way as Gabriel's mistress. McCarthy's writing gets better and better in each. Though I am not a huge fan of the paranormal, she really delves into the emotions of these oh-so-flawed characters which affords us a much juicier story.

I had very high hopes for this novel but unfortunately this novel fell a little flat. Basically the story is a supernatural who-done-it. The falled angel Gabriel covertly enlist the help of Sara Michaels, a forensic pathologist whose own mother was murdered in the same way Gabriel's mistress had been 150 years ago. Although the plot was interesting and kept me turning the pages I kept wishing the romance between Sara and Gabriel would be brought to the fore front of the book. Instead it seemed to take a distant second or third to the murder mystery and their own battles with addiction and fear. Not as good as the first book in this series, 'My Immortal' but still worth a read.

A decent read, but not one of McCarthy's best.

A great read! I read it in one sitting - I just couldn't get enough - I found that I felt the exact same way when I read the author's first book in the Sins series - My Immortal. Tormented Gabriel has been a fallen angel for centuries - an addict of both drugs and alcohol - he blames himself for the murder of Anne in the 1800s- not knowing for sure if he did it or not. In the present, Sara is trying to get over the murder of her mother and is dealing with an addiction herself. As Gabriel and Sara meet and both try to solve these murders, they come up against not only their individual addictions, but their attraction to each other.
A great story that keeps you engaged and has some great twists! I highly recommend it!

This was a great book. Definitely not as light as her other series, this book caught ahold of me and I had a hard time putting it down to deal with the sundries of life. Ya know, laundry, dishes, work, kids fighting....lol. Highly recommend it, but not one to read if your in the mood for a light hearted "snack" of a book.

It's like this book wasn't written by the same person as My Immortal (book 1 in series). This was so boring and very superficial. There were pages and pages of 150 year old courtroom testimony and newspaper articles which I eventually just started skipping because they didn't add a single thing to the story. I thought the premise, of four generations of women being horrifically murdered, would be a very interesting story. The love story just didn't work for me, I never came to care about either of the main characters and although they never had sex for almost the entire book, I still felt like the build up to their love story was wrong. I didn't fall in love with them. Unfortunately I think Erin McCarthy just missed it on this one. I disliked this book enough that I won't be reading any others in the series. This felt like a waste of time. two stars.
On the fence with this series. I read the second one to see if I felt any different. Not sure if I will keep reading...
Fallen was an enjoyable read with likeable main characters. The characters Margeurite (sp)and Alex were from the first book in the series, My Immortal.
