This is probably the 6th "Jack Reacher" novel that I have read, and it did not disappoint. I could not put the book down! Lots of interesting facts(?) about the secret service - at least they sound plausible.

Hooked from the first sentence. Jack Reacher has to find an assassin. I love these books. The character development keeps me coming back.

The Reacher books have a certain dour helplessness to them. They read like what I imagine a good Western would be like, if I'd ever read a Western. They could almost pass muster for Russian literature, except that they generally have happy endings to at least some of the narrative threads. For all that, they're excellent books, if you're into moderate plot complexity in the thriller genre and don't care overmuch for extremes of character development. Really good light reading.

I love all of Lee Child's Books...this one does not disappoint.

Reacher elbows a couple of guys in the head, but only shoots one guy. He's becoming quite restrained as he ages.

Typical Lee Child page-turning thriller featuring Jack Reacher working with the Secret Service to protect the Vice President. Clever, exciting and unpredictable, but over the top enough that it requires some efforts to suspend disbelief.

This is the 3rd Jack Reacher book I've read and they just keep getting better. Fascinating in the way his mind works, picking up clues, drawing conclusions that amaze me. Highly recommend this series.

Great Reacher book. Kept me up most of the night. It's one of his best. If you like bigger than life heros, this series is one you should not miss.
Clever plot.
I've read the first 6 Reacher books and have found them all a great read. The plot is always engaging. This book was really different from the others in the way the storyline was established and developed. Toward the end I felt the setting was very much like one from a previous book.I've come to feel like I know Reacher at this point. I plan to continue with the series until I finish.
Without Fail is the quintessential Jack Reacher tale. Reacher always demonstrates acute analytical thinking combined with action above and beyond the tough guy realm. Of the beauty, brains and brawn available to humans, Reacher definitely masters two out of three and he gets by in the third.
Reacher always gets the job done and protecting a future vice-president is all fun and games. Failure is not an option. But it's always the collateral damage that makes the books so interesting.

Reacher is at it again. Cool, intellectual, remote, compassionate, tough and he always gets his man.
Great suspence mystery! I read this book during the 2008 elections/debates/media circus, which was very timely since the storyline is based on the Vice President Elect and a suspected murder plot.
A friend recommended this series to me and lent me book 6 due to the timely content. I'll read book 1 next, but I was told you don't have to read them in order. Very good writing, very good suspence, very good story!

Another page-turning Reacher thriller from Lee Child. I have been reading these books in order - this is the sixth - and I have enjoyed all of them. This one to me was a little slow getting going but after the first 50 pages or so it moved along nicely to a very satisfying conclusion. In this one, Reacher is after a pair of assassins who are trying to kill the vice president. They should of known better than to mess with Reacher! Looking forward to the next in the series: Persuader.
As always with Lee Child's Reacher books, a great read.
I'm reading the Jack Reacher series in order, and this is hands down my favorite so far. The Secret Service has always fascinated me, which no doubt played a factor in my enjoyment of the book, and I could barely put it down. This book also made me very appreciative that I had read the books in order and understood his past.
Another good Reacher story, holds you in suspense all the way thru. Excellent read.
"Without Fail" was definitely better that "Echo Burning" but still felt a little short changed on the reasons behind the big mystery. I really still like the way Child describes the characters and their back stories and with each novel, we learn a little bit more and more about Reacher and his life before he became a drifter.
I still think it was an exciting book but I'll have to pause on the series for a bit. Like I mentioned in my other review of "Echo Burning", I'm beginning to predict when someone is going to say "So?", which is a easy way of explaining the plot of the story. No worries though, I've seen that technique in other stories and series.
But I'll always be in love with Jack Reacher. =)

Great read!
another great Reacher book by Childs
Reacher Rocks!
Book six in the series, and the character is starting to wear a little thin. But, still a good read if you are a fan.
Skilled, cautious and anonymous, Jack Reacher is perfect for the job: to assissinate the vice president of the US. Jack's task is of course a test to see how vulnerable the vice president is and then learns that a covert group already has the vp in their sights. Number 6 in the Jack Reacher series and another book you can't put down until you're finished with this thrilling tale.
The best Reacher book yet. He works with the Secret Service to stop an assignation attempt on the Vice President.
Another good Lee Child read. I've tried to read these in order, though, and feel the prior 5 are better. This one gets a bit too hung up on inconsequential details, but they're "skippable."
A good new author for me, will have to read his other books.
In another great thriller, former military man and supreme go-it-aloner Jack Reacher is called upon by his deceased brother's former girlfriend to assist her in her new job, that of head of the Secret Service detail protecting the Vice President-elect.
another exciting twisty-turny thriller
Looking for his latest. Lee keeps you moving in this one too.
What caqn I say...another Child, Jack Reacher powerhouse!!!
A wonderful Jack Reacher novel.****
Jack Reacher is the perfect man for the job: assasinate the vice president. The head of a high-level Secret Service detail wants Reacher to try an assasination attempt in order to find the holes in their system.
They don't come any better.
A great book. Keeps you guessing until the end.
A little 'formulaic' for my tastes.
he sixth time's a charm for thriller meister Child, whose latest escapade starring ex-military cop Jack Reacher is handily his most accomplished and most compelling to date. The suspense-laden plot kicks off with U.S. Secret Service agent M.E. Froelich telling Reacher: "I want to hire you to assassinate the Vice President of the United States." V-p-elect Brook Armstrong has received a series of anonymous death threats, and Froelich needs to uncover their source and ascertain the effectiveness of Armstrong's security detail. Reacher agrees to masquerade as an assassin because he can't resist a challenge and because Froelich had loved his older brother, Joe, a Secret Service colleague killed in a botched operation. As Reacher pieces together an increasingly frustrating puzzle, Child ratchets up the excitement with several breathtaking set pieces, including a Thanksgiving dinner for D.C.'s homeless that turns deadly, a jaw-dropping coup de thtre and a slam-bang finale in Wyoming's mountains. He even extracts tension from mundane events, as when Reacher searches for clues on a security video of an office cleaning crew. The novel's detailed insider's view of political skullduggery is certain to intrigue readers, and the various characters' relationships, handled with careful restraint, provide an added layer the growing attachment between Froelich and Reacher; both characters' recollections of Joe; Reacher's regard for Frances Neagley, a former colleague whom he calls in for help. And then there's Reacher himself, the stolid, flawed man's man who gives no quarter on any level. Indeed, the novel's final line serves as a prcis of this quietly fascinating character: "He headed west for the Port Authority and a bus out of town." This Child's play will be a tough act to follow.
An excellent read - another great book in the Jack Reacher series!
very interesting
Well written, great author. Jack Reacher character. I ordered more of his books after reading this.
Jack Reacher is the perfect man to assinate the vice president
Lee Child is my favorite suspence writer of the moment...and he does NOT disappoint, once a gain. A great read!!
This is the 6th in Jack Reacher series and I enjoy each new one as much as the previous ones
A great exciting mystery. The Jack Reacher series of books are all good reading.
Read it twice..two months apart. It was just as good the second time!!
I thought this was one of his better books. More riveting than others in the Reacher series.
highly recommend it.
highly recommend it.
This is one of his best Jack Reacher books.
I couldn't get into this book at all. I tried but I was unable to so I gave up on it. I knew someone wanted it that is why I am posting it.
AA++ Excellent story line as usual
I loved all the Jack Reacher books and this was no exception. The story was great, moved very fast and kept me up to the last page.
Another great Jack Reacher book! This may be one of my favorites! I think Lee Child does a wonderful job writing a suspenseful book. Always keeping you guessing what will happen next. Reacher is a likeable character and he doesn't disappoint in this book. Recommend to others.
Another Reacher book I couldn't put down.Holds you from the first chapter to the end.Charlie Heckelman
Jack Reacher is one of a kind---love this character!
Great as ever
Great edge of your seat stuff. Jack Reacher is addicitve.
The Vice President is at risk and it is Jack's job to find out who wants him dead. A one day can't put it down read.

I just finished this book and it kept me wondering until the very end. I have read all of the Lee Child's books and can't wait until he puts out another. I cannot picture Tom Cruise playing the leading character, Jack Reacher. Cruise is about 1/2 the man Jack Reacher is. I don't want to see the movie. Karen M.
I like the whole Jack Reacher series. I am going through them all. I have about 5 to go.
Typical Jack Reacher adventure I loved it!
Jack Reacher again
