This is the third book I've read from this author, and each one has the same problem for me: the story, while at first intriguing, disintegrates in a manner that slowly loses my attention, patience and interest in the characters. Sexuality portrayed is heavily male oriented, as if the author really doesn't have the ability to project female experience (ok, he's a man, I get that), and it often seems inappropriate, totally unnecessary to the story itself, as if inserted because it *should* be there. I'm no prude but explicit sexuality in a story line intended for other purposes is a turn off for me. I don't think I'll be reading any more of this author's work.
