This is a disappointing book. The author made no effort to explain how this bird used his wattle (they use it to make loud low sounds at daybreak and sunset). The male also stretches out his wattle to impress females he wants to mate with.
I thought the two most important things about this bird (what makes this bird unique) were the crest on his head (how the bird became an umbrellabird) and the wattle.
