This fourth book in the Susanna, Lady Appleton, series is another page turner. Susanna is accused of murder and must unmask the real killer before she is tried and executed.
"Eleanor Cross" is a direct sequel to "Winchester Geese," the third in the series, so be sure to read that book first.

Fourth in this great series featuring Lady Susanna Appleton. What really happened to Robert? This book will tell you. Wonderful plot line and the added history is great. Highly recommend this book and this series.

Susanna, Lady Appleton, is faced with the murder of her husband by poison just when they were reuniting. The thought that she is suspected of murder and awaits the gallows spurs her on. Riveting 16th century tale if full of herbal lore.

I just discovered this author, and What fun! Finally a Victorian mystery with a strong female protagonist! It probably would have been a bit easier to start at the beginning, since this is part of a series, but the writer actually does a pretty good job of embedding all the 'what has gone before' without confusion.
This lady has really done her homework on the times, places, names and customs of Victorian England. No superficial glossing over details. The reader feels that they are really present IN the story.

Another fun mystery set in Old England. I enjoyed the author's many insights into the time, as well as the clever mystery she set up.
