Great case for Kinsey, though also dangerous as an almost 20 year old murder comes back to haunt a small town when the prison escapee accused of the crime gets caught under his new alias for a crime he didn't commit. Small town dwellers will love this intrigue and understand the "everybody knows everybody" politics as well as the "locked and loaded" mentality when the accused again escapes and more murders pile up!

This one is really as great as all the rest of Sue Grafton's that I have read! Chock full of illicit affairs, family melodrama, red herrrings and breathtaking action,it has it all!
Bailey Fowler is a fugitive from justice, claiming innocence in the murder of a wild girl years ago but the killer could be anybody in the small lurid town on the California coast. Kinsey Millhone decides to take the case that gets in all kinds of scrapes and hairy corners!

Best selling author has her heroine Kinsy Millhone, a private investigator in California, investigating the death of a teen 17 years ago when her accused killer who escaped from prison is picked up again by the police. The escapee has led an exemplary life and claims he was always innocent. One of the author's best.

Sue Grafton is one of my all-time favorite authors and I love her Kinsey Millhone series more than any other mystery series out there. "F" is a great ride through the past with murder, mystery, illicit relationships and the ever-constant Kinsey in search for the truth. This is a great book and anyone who enjoys this series will find that this is one of the best.

I have read several of Sue Grafton's books and they just keep getting better.

I liked how Kinsey went about digging up clues in this cold case. None of the characters here are meant to be likable, and the murderer became obvious to me about halfway through, but it was still a good puzzle. Now that I'm reading them in order fairly close together, I realize that when I read them the first time around I must have glossed over a lot of info about Kinsey. I distinctly recall that upon reading one of the later books, she pulls some shady stunt and I thought "no Kinsey wouldn't do that" - but now I see yeah, she totally would. She's more complex than I remembered.

Though the ending was fairly obvious to me personally, the middle gunked it up and by the time it ended I'd second-guessed myself. The reveal of the murderer was tense, exciting even though I'd guessed it - I loved every minute of it! A real page-turner.

I'm noticing with this series that the books tend to drag until about over half-way through. Having said that, Grafton's writing style is humorous enough that it keeps you reading. This particular installment in the series was pretty good. Easy to figure out "whodunit" towards the end, but good story overall. It dragged a bit more than some of her other books. In the end, if you enjoy P.I. Kinsey Milhone, you'll enjoy this one.

"Grafton has successfully replaced the raw, masculine-fantasy brutality and gore of the Parkers and Valins and Leonards with heart-pounding, totally mesmerizing suspense....She is a master at it." __The New York Times Book Review

Good ole Kinsey Millhone does it again! This one takes place in a sorry, depressing little town, and she is trying to help a sorry, depressing little family. She gets involved with some of the townspeople, who are all kinda sorry, and depressing...but she is able to solve the mystery, and help a couple people.

Jean Timberlake was wild, looking for trouble...but not for murder. She was found dead on the beach 17 years ago, a rowdy ex-boyfriend was convicted of her murder & imprisoned---and then he escaped.
This case never should have been closed....
Pick me for heart-pounding, totally mesmerizing suspense!!

As far as mysteries go, this one was pretty easy to figure out. Still, Grafton delivers a solid story and, let's face it, Kinsey is just plain fun to read.
