"Extreme Denial" is about what you would expect from the author of the Rambo series. Lots of action, good character development.
The plot/storyline is pretty straightforward with just enough twists to keep you curious. The writing is good.
I think this would actually be a really good movie. And with Morrell's history, I will be suprised if it isn't.
While it isn't really my type of book, it is a good quick read for vacation or something.

having given up espionage and intrigue, Decker is thrown back into the same when his wife ends up missing....
Anti-terrorist operatives. A bungled covert operation leave 23 people dead.
A powerhouse thriller. One O David Morrell' best.
My husband really enjoyed this book. He said it reminded him of Robert Ludlum in the kind of storyline and feel.
At 40, Steve Decker is one of America's most accomplished anti-terrorist operatives. Then a bungled covert operation kills 23 people and leaves Decker shouldering the blame. Embittered, he retires...and meets a captivating woman names Beth Dwyer. But in a terrifying assult, Beth disappears-leaving an aagonizing mystery in her wake. For Decker the stakes are high; Beth's love, Beth's life, and most of all, the truth.
A fun read. Somewhat predictable, but worth the time. Morrell is definitely one of the best at the genre.
An antiterrorist operator finds himself unexpectedly madly in love, but is it doomed?
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It has so much action in it that it is extremely fast reading. I would highly recommend it for anyone who enjoys adventure, mystery and romance. One of the main settings is in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and the author's description of the town are great!
Steve Decker, an American intelligence operative whose specialty is counter-terrorism, has devoted his life to the protection of his country, denying his emotions in order to survive in a deadly shadow world of violence and deception. Desperate to find a new direction for himself, Decker makes a pilgrimage to Santa Fe, where he settles and at last finds peace and, eventually, love. His fantasies about marriage and children with Beth Dwyer, a captivating enigmatic woman, are destroyed when four gunmen break into his house in the middle of the night. Decker thought that he is being stalked by enemies from his other life proves incorrect when Beth suddenly disappears after a bomb destroys her house. He is forced to realize that Beth was the target and not him. He realizes that she is not the person he thought her to be.
