Lovesey is one of my favorite mystery authors. His "Peter Diamond" series is top notch. So I'm obviously biased when I write this is an excellent anthology of short stories. However, I wasn't thrilled it contained two short stories about "Bertie, the Prince of Wales."

Lovesey's mystery series about "Bertie" is not what i consider good reading. For that character the main plot of the stories is not the crime but the seduction of women. Of course, this is realistic, as the real "Bertie," the son of Queen Victoria, was an extreme womanizer, often using his royal title to get what he wanted. As you might suspect, Edward VII is not remembered as one of Britain's finest kings.
