Excellent reading. The story of the earth, it's creatures, and human evolution from the time of the comet that destroyed the dinosaurs until the end of the planet, billions of years in the future.

Kept me thinking about the characters and the earth long after I had finished the book.

Stretching from the distant past into the remote future, from primordial Earth to the stars, Evolution is a soaring symphony of struggle, extinction, and survival. (from book cover) I found it difficult to put the book down, the writer brings you back to the beginning and up to the future.

evolution of man from the Lemur to cro=magnon in fictionalized account; too raunchy for my tastes.

Baxter's story-telling shines in this sweeping tale that traces human evolution from the distant past to far future. While much of the action is of course conjecture, it is compelling and scientifically plausible, like most of his work.
