I completed the third book and again was not disappointed. It keeps you interested throughout the entire book. There is no way to read these books out of order and be able to understand what is happening. This is a series that MUST be read in order. The third book again answers some questions from the previous books, but again leaves many more unanswered.I love this series. I can't wait for the next one.

Ongoing saga of Archie and Gretchen, the serial killer who almost killed him. Well written to keep you turning the pages until the end.

I think I wanted to like this more than I did. Unfortuantely, as the series progressed, the author tried in my opinion to out-do herself with the 'gore'. I found the characters still interesting.....but less gore and more character development would have kept more interested longer. I wound up not being able to wait for this book to be over. That's kind of unfortuante. Usually we all savor the story as long as we can.
This is the first book I have read by Chelsea Cain. It will not be my last.
It kept my attention from beginning to end.
Even though this is the third book of the series, I will be reading the first two books. The way this book ended there may be a fourth. You can bet I'll be reading it too.

The third book in this _Silence-of-the-Lambs_-esque series felt short. The plot wasn't as detailed and there was only minimal character growth. And considering the ending, it doesn't look like this will be the last we hear of the Beauty Killer. I will look out for the fourth book, but I must admit that I was a little disappointed with this one. The resolution was loose and there were a lot of flashbacks that seemed more like filler than anything else... Also this one drew more on the gore-factor than the others did.

This is not for the squeamish!!! I read Heartsick and I had forgotten the story of Archie and Gretchen but this will remind you of the events leading up to this story and it is quite the story!! Evil is a good word and makes you wonder where she came up with this story line and she writes it really well, hard to put down.
First, I loved Heartsick.
The following year, Chelsea Cain blew me away with Sweetheart.
Now, there is Evil at Heart. Hmmmm.
After I read Sweetheart last year, the story haunted me for days and I couldn't get it out of my mind. Unfortunately, Evil at Heart was forgettable. The story just didn't suck me in like the previous books in this series.
I, of course, will definitely be looking forward to the 4th book in this series, but this installment was lacking so much. I can't say alot without giving anything away, but I was really disappointed in this one. I'm still glad I read it, but it was a let-down after her first two.

This is the 3rd installment in the Gretchen Lowell series, and it does not disappoint. Archie is pulled back into the hunt from his room in the psych ward where Gretchen has been keeping tabs on him thru clever means. But is she the one hunting again, or is it the leader of the fan club whose sister was murdered and tortured by Gretchen in front of him? Or was it really Gretchen who killed her? I love that the gender of the superbly twisted killer is a female. It makes the battle between her and Archie all the more interesting. Archie has survived her scalpel and torture where she took him to the brink of death over and over for days before being caught. I could go on and on about this series, but i think i have spoiled enough already. Start at the beginning with Heartsick, and you will be hooked!
This is the third book in the series. The whole book is very intense. It's hard to put down. And I didn't. I find myself hoping that things will someday work out for Archie. That he will someday find happiness and be able to put Gretchen behind him. Maybe in the next book. :)
This book was "okay", but it did not live up to the potential presented with her first book, Heart Sick and the follow-up Sweetheart ...which makes me think she should leave this series and move on to something else.

excellent read you may want to read these in order otherwise they may not make sense. Would not recommend if you can't handle alot of gorry stuff. Very suspenseful.
Another Gretchen and Archie thriller. This is a continuation of Cain's last book. Some parts are very dark. I enjoyed the roller coaster ride of this book. I will be looking forward to Chelsea Cain's next mystery.
A gory, gruesome and satisfying conclusion to the Archie and Gretchen saga. I enjoyed this book!

Chelsea Cain's books about Archie and Gretchen just keep getting better and better.
This third book of the series also keeps you turning pages and pages til the end.
As the "relationship" between Archie and Gretchen keeps becoming more and more twisted and intense you want to scream NOOOOOOOOOOOO keep away from her to Archie...but NO he keeps on going back...
This is a edge of your seat thriller that you will not forget long after the last page is read.
Now I heard that she has a 4th book coming out next year and I cannot wait.

I was disappointed in this book. I don't think it was anywhere near as good as the first two. There was no nail-biting suspense. This series is about Archie and Gretchen but Gretchen wasn't really in this one. It seemed like filler to me almost as if the author has a deal to write 4 books and didn't have enough material. I'm not sure I will be reading the next installment. The relationship between Archie and Gretchen though disturbing is getting old. Though I do agree that Archie killing her would have been a huge mistake for him and tossed him backwards in his therapy. Though if he makes a deal with Gretchen...again...he'll be right back where they started.

The best one yet, I hope there is a book four, I think it left room for it at the end. This series is one of the best I have read in a long time, pick up Heartsick first and get reading! If you enjoy suspense and a very quick read that you cannot put down, grab these books.

This is the 3rd book in the series - you HAVE to read them in order to really understand all of the relationships and the psyche of Archie. These books are all page turners. Some of the torture scenes take my breath away as they are so sick and evil. But I LOVE the thrill of this series - breath taking, suspenseful, edge of your seat. Not for the faint of heart or those who only like cozy mysteries.
Another awesome Archie and Gretchen book. But my God, how dumb can Susan, the reporter, be? I find myself focusing on her stupidity and losing the passion for the storyline. Anyway, I highly recommend this series. I continue to be amazed that Chelsea Cain can write such a book! Awesome!
