It is assumed to be held harmless by the possessor unless selfish design or desire for vengeance brings it out. It was inspired by a neighbor named Case, who claimed an enemy had killed three of his cows merely by overlooking them. The Lindsays and the Goodwins are neighbors, and have lived for many years in mutual harmony and esteem. Unfortunately, things are about to change, due to a well-intentioned act of one family towards a member of the other.
