This is a good book with two flawed lead characters, Con Niemand and John Anselm. The action takes place mostly in London and Hamburg and the two stories come together toward the end of the book. My only complaint is that the author goes into too much detail about Anselm's work. I've read other books by Peter Temple and have enjoyed them all. I'm a little disappointed that this was not the first of a series.
