Everything You Want Me to Be by Mindy Mejia depicts the investigation into the murder of high school senior Hattie Hoffman and her life in the year leading up to her death. My guesses keep going back and forth between different possible murderers. All this guesswork combined with the intriguing character of Hattie herself makes for a great mystery read. Just for the record, my guess as to the guilty party proves wrong by the end.

I'm always trying a new author and this is one to keep my eye out for, this is a great book! It gets your attention from the very beginning and you won't put it down!
I really enjoyed this book. It kept me guessing. The characters were complex. It was different than a lot of the current crop of popular mystery type books. Although the story revolves around a high school student, there are interesting adult characters throughout as well. Kept me reading.
My mind was completely overtaken by this book! I did not want to put it down but had to a few times and when I did, it played in my head as vividly as if I was watching it directly. If you enjoy books that have you guessing and second guessing after every chapter, you will certainly want to put this one on your wish list! Very well-written, I have high hopes for this author in the future!

The characters in this book are so real. They are flawed living breathing humans. They grow and change as the books goes through time. The author just blows me away. The plot is definitely character driven, but it has twists and turn and is such a psychological thriller that you get sucked in and become so invested in these people. This is a book that is going to stick with you after you read the last page.
