I enjoyed this much more than Weisberger's first book - The Devil Wears Prada. I would say that both books are about young women in New York City with a new job and having that job take over their lives, but this one seemed better written and less repetitious to me. Romance seems like a bigger focus in this book as well, in DWP it her relationship seems to be touched on verrry briefly. Lots of pop culture and New York City references. I think this character was better fleshed out than in the first book: more about her family and her personality and hobbies.
Helpful Score: 5
Very similar to "The Devil Wears Prada", although the story has a better role for "the guy who isn't good for her" and a reasonably appealing "guy she really wants".
Story is basically university-educated Jewish girl from Upstate New York moves to New York City, has a boring job she hates and quits, takes a job as a party planner because her flamboyantly gay celebrity uncle tells her to, and gets caught up in a job that takes over her life, causing rifts with her family and best friend (sound familiar?).
I found it highly predictable, and had worked out all the "surprise" plot twists long before they were revealed, and I found the protagonist, Bette, to be easily manipulated, naive, and fairly tiresome.
The structure of the book is, admittedly, solid, with well-written descriptive prose that very much sets the scene and mood. It's unfortunate that the characters are all fairly two-dimensional and the plot "twists" so predictable.

This is the author that wrote The Devil Wore Prada. Even though I found the book predictable it is very entertaining. It is easy to read. This book would be great for someone who wanted a light entertaining book without a lot of depth to it. I liked it.

Definitely better than the author's first work, which was "Devil Wears Prada." Strong main character, wittier dialogue, and the story moves at a more interesting pace. Fun read!

I loved LOVED this book! It was funny, romantic, heartwrenching at times... I really felt for the characters.

This is a very cute, light read. If you love romance novels, you'll probably love this delightful piece of chic lit. Perfect for the beach or vacation.

Lauren Weisberger really hit the big time with her first novel, The Devil Wears Prada, and was most likely encouraged to milk the rebound from Prada with a similar type of novel. In fact, I'm wondering if she can write anything that's really different at this point in time, if ever.
What I find irritating about her books is that the main character is always a spoiled, whiny child who manages to get a job that other people would be infinitely grateful to have - the perks are amazing and the job provides opportunities for tremendous career growth. The pay isn't all that great and the hours are long - but hey, I'd rather have a job like this than work the same amount of time at Burger King and Walmart. But do Weisberger's characters see it this way? No, they'd rather whine about the long hours, "hard work," cattiness and difficult demands than count their obvious blessings. Further, they do this with a sense of righteousness - as if earning a great deal of money working a straight 40 hour week with honest, cooperative co-workers immediately out of college is something they are entitled to have.
In Prada, Weisberger must have been told that her characters were a bit too one-dimensional, because this book is stuffed with characters who have an eccentricity. Only one per character, and their quirkiness seems pulled out of a book of stereotypes.
However, all this said, it was still a fun read. Why? Because a.) it gives you an insight into a world that most of us will never be a part of, with luxurious opportunities and gifts raining from heaven and b.) it allows US to feel self-righteous as we smugly imagine what WE would do if given the same opportunity!
So I would not pass up this book on its shortcomings, because even though it's advantages seem less influential, they make the reading worthwhile.
If you enjoyed Prada on ANY level, this book is definitely for you.

This is an entertaining book not as good as "The Devil wears Prada" it is a bit trite and predictable all in all it's a good read.

Just as good as The Devil Wears Prada, lots of shallow skinny people to hate, lol. Good read.

Lot's of fun and loved the characters.

A book that reads like part gossip column/part romance. A fun read that shows life behind the velvet rope.

I enjoyed this book as much as her other book "The Devil Wears Prada." It's a similar story of a young 20 something working for a hip company in NYC. A light, entertaining read.

By the author of Devil Wears Prada, based on life in a public relations firm. Lots of fun

I looked forward to this with alot of anticipation. I loved The Devil Wears Prada. This is a good and easy read but not as smooth nor are the characters as complex as TDWP.

If you liked The Devil Wore Wears Prada, you might be tempted to pick up this book! Succumb to the temptation! Although the formula is almost the same...naive city girl finds a difficult job in an alien coporate culture...the scene that Weisberger describes is a different one. The world of PR is as corrupt as the fashion world in her first novel, and the temptations rampant. Pretending to be the girlfriend of a man she doesn't see without a camera present, ignoring the signs of trouble in a friend's impending marriage; all of make the implication that perhaps "everyone worth knowing" aren't worth knowing at all.
I love chick-lit and was interested enough to request this book, yet when it arrived I let it sit around for awhile and wondered if it was too predictable a book to even bother with. However, I'm glad I began reading it because, although a tad predictable, there are enough characters and little twists to keep you interested and even have you rooting for Bette in the end. If you are looking for a quick, easy, yet satisfying chick-lit book (and nothing more!), I reccomend this!
A fast enjoyable read. Really liked the story line. A lesson on getting caught up in material things. I had a hard time putting it down.
A good one! Fun read!
Very cute book! A quick feel good read!
Fun book! I actually liked it better than "The Devil Wears Prada"; fun quick read!
Fun read! Makes you think about fashion, accessories and what is really important.
great book good twist in story couldn't put it down!
Funny & a great read
A fun second novel by the author of "The Devil Wears Prada."
By the author of The Devil Wears Prada, this one about an event planner (and fashonista) is even better.
Strong Language
Fast fun read.
Not as good as Weisberger's first book, The devil Wears Prada, but still a good read if you're into NYC/PR/entertainment.
Bette Robinson quit her horrendous Manhattan banking job and she meets Kelly, head of Manhattan's hottest PR firm. Suddenly she has a brand-new job where the primary requirement is to see and be seen inside the VIP rooms of the city's most exclusive nightclubs. But when Bette begins appearing in a vicious new gossip column, she realizes that the line between her personal life and her professional life is invisible. Written by the author of "The Devil Wears Prada" - another excellent book!
Very readable. A bit predictable, but the characters are fun so it's forgiveable.
Great book! I couldn't put it down.
What happend when a girl on the fringe enters the realm of New York's chic, party-hoppping elite?
If you loved "The Devil Wears Prada" you will also love the second book by this author. A great story about finding true love, fashion and Hollywood attitude. Funny and really enjoyable!
This was a lot better than The Devil Wears Prada in my opinion. The heroine was a lot more likable and didn't seem to bring so many of her problems on herself (and then blame them on others). I really liked this book which surprised me because I didn't like TDWP at all.
a fun light read! I enjoyed it more than Prada! :)
Great if you are interested in celebrity behavior and the club scene in NY. Same author as the Nanny Diaries and just as good in a different way.
I found this just as entertaining as the Devil Wears Prada. Enjoyed the characters and their stories, loved the glam settings and found it great escapism.
Just had a hard time with this book, couldn't get into the characters. I've still got my bookmark at the 1/2 way point for the past year.
I found this book a little hard to get into but once I did I really enjoyed it. The main character is fun and relatable.
I really can't put my finger on why I didn't like Everyone Worth Knowing, but I didn't. It is typical club scene, name dropping, New York chick lit, which I typically like. I thought I'd like it because I really like The Devil Wears Prada. If you really like Lauren Weisberger, you'll probably like this one. I just found it tedious and a little bit boring.
A great light entertaining read. Ideal if you don't have time for a heavy read. Great fun!
Almost made me want to quit my banking job!! Super cute
Great book that will make every woman laugh! One woman's fictional story but could be any of us in today's workforce. Just what will you do to be successful at your job?
Good book! Better to me than The Devil Wears Prada.
A fun look at NYC PR, a good summer read. Similar in tone to Devil Wears Prada
Entertaining light read, but highly predictable.
Fun, fun, fun book. I loved "Devil Wears Prada" and this one was similar, but distinctively different. A fun, fast read that I finished in one day.
Girl swaps humdrum job for a thrilling new career by author of Devil Wears Prada
What happens when a girl on the fringe enters the realm of New York's chic, party-hopping elite?
Soon after Bette Robinson quits her horrendous Manhattan banking job like the impulsive girl she's never been, the novelty of walking her four-pound dog around the unglamorous Murray Hill neighborhood wears as thin as the "What are you going to do with your life?" phone calls from her parents. Then Bette meets Kelly, head of Manhattan's hottest PR firm, and suddenly she has a brand-new job where the primary requirement is to see and be seen inside the VIP rooms of the city's most exclusive nightclubs. But when Bette begins appearing in a vicious new gossip column, she realizes that the line between her personal life and her professional life is...invisible.

I thought this was a good, light read. Very enjoyable, but not very deep.
If you liked The Devil Wears Prada, you'll love this quick romp through NYs party scene and the PR machine that makes it all go. The storyline seems quite familiar, substitute celebs for designers and Prada echoes quite clearly. In spite of the slim plot, this is a fun read for anyone that needs a little escape from the not so glamorous daily grind.
As well hyped as they were, I didn't find this book or The Devil Wears Prada nearly as entertaining as I had expected to. The main characters aren't particularly endearing, therefore you don't find yourself rooting for them all that much. Some books leave you wanting more or hoping for a sequel, but you won't find that here.
I felt like this book was a waste of a good credit! :o(

Fluffy, light and entertaining read.
Very funny.
Pretty good story. Easy read like her other book.

Great Read
Great Read
Bette, an overworked piss-ant in the banking industry up and quits one day on a spur-of-the-moment whim. Not really knowing what shes going to do with herself, and after a few months of blissful unemployment the whole paying-rent issue rears its ugly head.
Finally Bettes semi-notable uncle calls in a favor and Bette finds herself flung into the mysterious world of A-list celebs, all-night clubbing, drugs, alcohol, and the outrageous gossip columns that are the lifeblood of NYC. As a new PR rep Bette struggles to keep her private life out of her work life and finds out along the way that even though shes not meant to be a banker, she might also not be meant to be in the limelight.
I have mixed feelings about Everyone Worth Knowing. Yeah, it was a throwback to Devil Wears Prada and was essentially very similar in plotline with the endings almost identical, but despite the fact that Everyone Worth Knowing was so similar to its predecessor, I did like the book.
While not a page-turner, and despite the fact that the ending was pretty predictable, Everyone Worth Knowing had a cool vibe running throughout the whole thing that made me want to get to the end. Since its not a very long or laborious read this was not hard in the least, and the book left me feeling satisfied if not jumping out of my chair to read more.
I dont feel that the fact that the storyline is predictable is as sinful as some of the reviewers of this book have said. Its pretty much a classic case of the one-note-wonder that is Lauren Weisberger. She writes about NYC, the nightlife, the atmosphere, and the relationships that result from it. Basically an un-slutty version of Sex and the City, another one-note-wonder that gets acclaimed reviews.
I hate being on the fence about books. I want to either love them or despise them, but Everyone Worth Knowing was not one of these. I finished it, I didnt exalt in it, I didnt make any lasting relationships to the characters, but I did enjoy a glimpse into their world.
Overall this was a solid 3-star book. Not great, not unreadable or detestable, justthere. Basically if youve read Devil Wears Prada and liked it you might be disappointed with Everyone Worth Knowing. If youre new to Lauren Weisbergers work you might find yourself in for a treat. A Catch-22 book if I ever read one.

Written by "Devil Wears Prada" author. Soon after Bette quite her horrendous Manhattan banking job she land a job at the hottest NY PR firm. All of a sudden her life begins appearing in the gossip columns and she ralized that the line between her personal life and her profession life is invisible.
I could not put this book down as it was just as good as Miller,s best-seller "The Devil Wears Prada". Her urban Manhattan humor and complexities are so interesting. Love her and her books!!!!
Lovedlovedloved this book, read it in a little over a day. unable to put it down. :)
Excellent book! Can be a little slow at times, but picks up.

From the author of The Devil Wears Prada, a new story of life among the rich and famous. Once again the glamour is not all it appears to be from the outside. Funny and a little sad sometimes. It is fun to learn that some of that some "rich and famous" images are self-induced and well-paid for.
Great airplane reading. Bette comes from committed hippie parents and yet works in Manhattan first in banking and then as a PR party planner. Somewhat naive, she gets "used" by many somewhat unscrupulous characters who are stereotypes of the "beautiful people". Not great literature but fun.
Cute, light read. Not as good as the Devil Wears Prada, but a nice book for a plane ride or trip to the beach.
This book started out slow, but picked up pace. All in all a good read.
Good read. Interesting characters; young, hip and full of the insecurities that we all have.
Popularity isn't everything, at the end of the day you have to live with the consequences of your actions. Female-empowering story!
Packed with celebrity mentions and insider takes on exclusive Manhattan nightspots. Ths is a great book by the author of "The Devil Wears Prada". Good book
This is a cute read, very light and somewhat predictable, but fun nonetheless. It's by the author of The Devil Wears Prada, and follows a similar storyline of a young woman who is working a very demanding job in a glamourous setting...and the impact this has on her personal life. I enjoyed it, and think that most people would love it as a beach, plane, or vacation read.
Great book. Fun and funny
Good book, enjoyed reading. Funny.

Not as good as The Devils Wears Prada, but still an enjoyable read!
A quick fun read, but full of cliche's. Every one of the "mysteries" was completely obvious before it was finally revealed.
A fun, light summer read.
Very entertaining! If you liked The Devil Wears Prada this is definitely a must read!!!
easy read predictable ending
Cute, not is wonderful as "The Devil wears Prada."
If you are a chick lit fan, this is a must read! I couldn't put it down.
Fun light read.
Very enjoyable! Good summer reading.
Great book! I enjoyed this just as much as The Devil Wears Prada. I love her style of writing, though it is a tad predictable.
Great book! One of my favorites!
Very quick and fun read. A little predictable, but a great story!
Entertaining beach read.
By the author of the Devil Wears Prada...if you liked that one, you'll like this too!
Good, but I liked the Devil Wears Prada better.
Really fun read... as good as "The Devil Wears Prada". I enjoyed this book a lot and finished it in two days!
a fun read!
Juicy, easy to read, very enjoyable.
Not as good as Devil Wears Prada.
If you liked the BOOK "The Devil Wears Prada", then you will definately like this book as well. Light reading but very entertaining - a fast read. I couldn't put it down.
Good used condition, fun read, fast and easy!
I loved this easy to read, tale of celebrities, PR, and finding love among the chaos. To me, better than Devil Wears Prada.
Really cute.
Another New York society dish (fiction of course)
If you liked The Devil Wears Prada you'll love this one, too. It was great! Funny!
this was a very funny book, i re-read it twice. it was a quick read, i didn't want to put it down.
As an at-home-mom I cannot read anything to serious. This book was a perfect fun read that I could not put down. If you like celeberty drama you love this book.
This book rocks it's funny and really shines a light on the trendy VIP world. I loved this book!It brings home how lonley it can be at the top.
A good summer beach read. Funny and not to be taken seriously. The type of book I like to read between drama and mysteries.
not as good as the devil wears prada. It's like a slight variation on the same theme.
This book was a really good read. Very lighthearted & fun. She should write faster! We need more books like this!
I love this book and this author!
This is a great fun read from the author of The Devil Wears Prada. Weisberger's style is funny and witty. It's a very enjoyable read.
Another sassy book by the author of "The Devil Wears Prada." Life as lived by the very young and hip in Manhattan.
if you liked "A Devil Wears Prada" you should like this story! I loved it!
From the creator of "The Devil Wears Prada" comes the story of Bette Robinson. She's a young girl thrown into the glitzy world of party planning. She soon finds out everything isn't as glamorous as it may appear. I enjoyed the read. It was a downer at some points, and laugh out loud at others.
Fun read by the author of The Devil Wears Prada.
Cute......I really liked it
If you liked "The Devil Wears Prada", you will love this one! I couldn't put it down.

Similar to the Devil Wears Prada. Entertaining
Just OK. Very predictable.
Same author as The Devil Wears Prada. A fun read!
This was a great book, I really enjoyed it!
I think this one moved faster than Deveil wears Prada. I enjoyed seeing inside a life one can only imagine and knowing now that I'd hate it! so I'm not missing anything. A good read.
Great read!
Remember "Airplane 2: The Sequel" ? That's kind of what it felt like to read this follow-up carbon-copy to The Devil Wears Prada. On its own, a fun read... I like the backdrop of the entertainment industry and the love story is kinda cute... you'll enjoy it for what it is. A great beach/plane/chick lit read.
LOVED LOVED LOVED it!!!! I wasn't sure how it would compare to Devil Wear's Prada (one of my favs) but it was great!!! It took me a few chapters to get into it because it hought it was a bad knock off at first, but once i got into it, i couldnt put it down. Such a greast story about a girl whos gotten complacent with her life and finally sucks f-it- quits her job as a banker, starts working as a party planner for THE company in New York and it just goes from there. FAB-U-LOUS!!!!
author of the devil wears prada, very good book I wasn't dissapointed, book is in great shape also

Coming from the author of THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA, you know this book has to be amazing--and it didn't fail to live up to my expectations! Ms. Weisberger's writing is so funny and light-hearted that you just have to love this book!
Bette Robinson is a boring twenty-something who has no social life, and has a job working at a bank that she hates.
Until she quits.
She has no plan, has no idea what her next move will be, and she knows that her parents will be disappointed in her (again). She takes a month off and gets her real life back and starts having fun again. Then she finally decides that she needs to get another job, and her uncle gets her a super-sweet position at a public relations firm.
Her job - literally - is to party! She begins going out every night (just to work). She even gets to go on a first-class trip! But then her personal life gets mixed up with her work, and she starts becoming unhappy with her crazy new job.
What will she do? Read the book to find out!

very amusing. i liked it better than the Devil Wears Prada.
Bette quits her horrendous banking job on an impulse. The novelty of walking her dog around the neighborhood wears thin. Bette meets Kelly, head of Manhattan's hottest PR firm and suddenly she has a new and exciting job. Her only job requirement is to see and be seen inside the VIP rooms of NYC's most exclusive nightclubs. When see begins appearing in a vicious new gossip column, she realizes that the line between her personal life and her professional life is invisible. Good fun read.
If you enjoyed "The Devil Wears Prada", you will like this one too.
Even for chicklit, this remarkably vacuous book is full of pretentious name-dropping and shallow characters. Fuggedaboudit.
I didn't like this book as much as "The Devil Wears Prada", which was much more believable. In fact I found much of the story line repetitive and rather boring and the characters somewhat artificial in their similarity.
Loved it! For some reason, this book kinda reminds me of Sex IN The City....
I can sum up this book with one word: meh. I loved reading "The Devil Wears Prada" so I was pretty excited when Lauren Weisberger wrote another book. Except she really didn't because this has the same exact plot? Weisberger's writing style improved a little but this book was pretty dull and felt very unrealistic. I finished it in one night partially so I could get it over with. Overall? Dull, no-brainer chick book that would be great for the beach.
